In single player, within the game: shift-tab to bring up the console (be sure your aircraft is trimmed for level flight, you will lose control while the console is up - console is the very light gray text down the left side of the screen, at the bottom is a text entry box).

Type :
>fps START SHOW

Type shift-tab again to close the console.

To stop the FPS meter being shown do the same thing only type : >fps STOP

Online you can do the same thing with the console, or you can simply type the same line into the chat window.

Another option for online use is to edit the "rcu" file and include two lines like the following:

Code:
@a fpson fps START SHOW LOG 0
@a fpsoff fps STOP HIDE

Within the game you can open the console (or chat window) and type "> fpson" to start the frame rate coutner, and "> fpsoff" to close it.

I may have the arrow direction wrong, can't remember if it's "", but that arrow must be there and the spelling/capitalization must be precise.

Alternately you can get a free program called Fraps (LINK). With Fraps you can set the FPS display to any corner of the screen, and take screenshots at will that won't get over-written the next time you fly, as with the in-game screenshot utility. If you buy a license for Fraps you can take full-screen movies as well.

Go into your "IL-2 Sturmovik" game folder & find the file called "rcu". Open it with "Notepad".
It should look something like this -

@set fast off
@set echo on
@set alias on
@set history 20

@alias a alias
@a h history
@a s show

Add this line - @a q fps START SHOW LOG 1

Now next time you are playing the game press the pause button to stop the game & then press "Tab" & "Shift" together, lines of writing will appear on the left side of the screen. Press "q" & then "Enter". The framerate will appear at the top of the screen. Press "Tab" & Shift again to remove the lines of writing on the left & press the pause button to continue the game.
