Radio Commands and also the U-2
#1

Ok, a two part Q and A section. I've two questions, i'd hope for 2 replies.

1) Is it possible to mod the ai and radio coms to have more advanced squadron commands? For example, having 4 different flights actually do formations together? Because at least within the RAF, squadrons would assume a formation with the individual sectinos in a different sub-formation. Such as the squadron being in line astern, but the sections in, for example, right echelon? Or the squadron in a vic, but the sections line abreast? Or squadron in extended line and the sections in extended line for a good area sweeping formation? etc etc.

It'd add far more depth to see 16 aircraft creating a kick ass formation instead of the usual 4.

ok, that's q1.

2) Does anyone else find the U-2 / Po-2 rather underpowered? because i've found that no matter how low the fuel load, with the plane empty and devoid of ammo, and with the mixture at any setting, I can barely get the plane to climb beyond 2000ft on take off; if i start off flying high it'll drop down to much lower levels, eg 2000-1500ft, given enough time, whether it starts from 20,000ft or 10,000ft.
Am I doing anything wrong? I'd love to be able to fly the aeroplane, but it simply cannot reach beyond 100mph. We're doing a WW1 mod right now; i reckon that some of the later aircraft will be able to out climb, out manoeuver (although fighters would have been able to do that anyway probably), and outrun the Po-2, which is a 1930s bi plane, not a 1917 aircraft.

Am I the only one who expiriences this? Is it fixable? if not, no worries, but it would be nice to fly it propperly.

Cheers!
Mog

The Po-2 was designed as a training aircraft (primary very basic trainer), not as a combat aircraft (used in combat as desperate measure). Its top speed was 152 Km/h. In fact, it was slower than a Camel, or DR.1 (not the fastest WWI planes). It compares better with planes as the Curtiss Jenny or the Avro 504. In fact, it was difficult to shot down because its very slow speed.

Confusedhock:
gosh.

But even so, I ought to be able to get it slightly higher off the ground? The blooming thing always seems one tiny step away from stalling

With a bomb load, it's all I can do to even keep it in the air.

But for all that, as an opponent in the air, it is mean little aircraft, shooting me down more often than expected. And it is a colorful plane too, as it has the classic biplane look with many types of skins adapted for use.

I still say too bad there aren't other open cockpit biplanes in Sturmovik.

Hey Man...Pratice makes perfect lol

The Ole U-2VS can be hard to fly all right ,heres a campaign for it>

I believe that this is the first campaign ever made for the U-2VS!

with the U-2VS standing in for a B4 Hart, you also get to fly the J8A Gladiator II.

There is another campaign in the works, where you're going to have to shoot some baloons down with the U-2VS......Which the only gun on it is the Rear Gunner..... 8)

Easy

It's not a case of practise. Perfectly trimmed, and as light as possible, it simply won't climb. I'd suggest it's a fm issue, but i doubt it'll be addressed, which would be a shame.

Aah, the good ol' kukuruznik...yes, it's awfully underpowered, but it was in real life, too.
I started making a static campaign for the U-2VS a month ago, finished two missions, and then my computer got buggered and i had to format the hard-drive...bad luck :?
