This is a set of ground plates for tarmac taxiways and runways, or anything else your imagination cooks up. Full installation instructions are given in the enclosed readme.txt file.

Installation
============

Copy the contained folders to your IL2 root.
Then paste the contents of Tarmac-add-to-static.ini to...

MODS/STD/com/maddox/il2/objects/static.ini

Thats it. All done. Enjoy. The section "OBJECTS_CAL" will appear in your list of available objects in the unlocked FMB.

I know this is probably a dumb question but what is the "unlocked FMB" as mentioned in the installation instructions, and how does it differ from the normal one ?

Is there a procedure to unlock FMB, if so what do I do ?

Many thanks :?:

You can get the download on this site somewhere that unlocks the FMB and gives you the full range of map-making tools - but you can't build ordinary missions in that mode. I use two installations of IL2 for that reason.

Many thanks, I'll try and set my system up as you suggest.

If I create a mission with these plates will the others in my squad ALSO need them installed to use my mission?

Yes, although tests indicate the game will ignore the missing plates and not inform the user. I can't guarantee that will be the same for everyone or over a net/LAN game.

You won't. You'll find them in the section OBJECTS_CAL. If that section is missing, its probably because you're using the standard mission builder. You need to 'unlock' the full mission builder in order to use these plates in this case, and in doing so, you will turn your FMB into a dedicated map-builder style rather than a mission editor.

This mod is really for map-makers, not mission-builders.

Very nice and useful addition 8)

Is there a possibility to get these in dirt?

Dirt runways? Yep, if you want. I've got a lot on at the moment (Zimbotho is on the back burner for now) but this shouldn't be difficult. You may now tremble with anticipation Wink
