Yesterday, I tried upgrading the game to 4.09b1m (I had 4.08 ) and it installed ok, but the game would keep freezing at 95%. So, I gave up and downgraded back to 4.08m. I run the game, and it says that the version is 4.08, but then the game would crash at 60%. So, I uninstall the game, reinstall, update to 4.08m and install the sound mod version .093 I had before, but it's still crashing. Can anyone help?
Ok here is the age old question.When you uninstalled the game did you go into your program files and delete the game folder that is left behind? You must do this because there may be a corrupted file in that game folder that will mess up your new install.If you didn't do that, give it a try and see if you can at least get the game up and running,don't do any patching until you see that the game is going to run
Try this: Worked for me.
1 Get to 408m and patch to 409m
2 Install AAA_Community_Installer_ver_1_0_part01 through 4 (run Part1, it will install 3-4)
3 ENG_Sound_mod_Version_093
4 Canons_BoB_map_installer_IL2_4_09
5 AC_INSTALLER_v3_0 for sounds
6 Add other planes MODS you want (be careful where you put them - make sure it is the correct place)
7 Go to Files/Samples and REM out the EXP.wav's (Forces sim to use the original Bullit/flak hit sounds)
I also added Vas's Prop MOD, adjusted some Merlin Sounds, added my Engine Flames...
