Ok.. people like to make comparisons before they make changes to a modded install they have spent a long time in getting just right.. Having a selection of pics would help people make their minds up before changing anything.
If you have the mod and think its great, then show it to others.. It'll help.

No fps drop, yeah right.
Just tested with my server machine amd64 3000 with 2gb ram and ati850xt 512mt.
1024x768 resolution and boy it stutters like hell with this smoke and fire mod.
All other mods that even have a hint towards this mod have been removed.

Fly,
Best smoke mode yet.
As you mentioned about individuals tweaking to suit their needs, I put a minus in front of the -BlackHeavyGND.eff file because I like the column of rising smoke. It works great and no FR hit. I love the way the smoke disipates when the aircraft hits the ground. No heavy black blobs.

Is there a particular line to adjust the smoke transparency? I would like to see through it a bit more to see the aircraft and continue to shoot.

Thanks for a great mod.
Cheers.

I didn't said that heavy smoke is realistic.
I just don't like too much realistic things like this, almost can't see smoke just column of fire.
It is realistic, most realistic mod actually, but I prefeer my cinematic grey wall of smoke D:

I'm already an enthusiastic user of v1 Smile thx again

Important! You can adjust the visibility distance of smoke & fire by editing whitesmoke.mat and burnfire0.mat's "VisibleDistanceFar" parameter value (3000 is default value). I use 8000 for fire and 12000 for smoke.

Yeah, still using excellent and from now on i'm not going to touch any more graphics mods that make il2 more beatiful  but thats because i'm so curious to try everything  .
And i forgot that i upgraded the cpu to a X2 model and sold the old singlecore cpu 1.8ghz.
I'd better rip that old sticker from the front of the atx-case so i wont post wrong info again.

Oh and i forgot to post a reply to your conf.ini that you posted weeks ago
That didn't help me either, i did do a driverclean and installed new drivers but still had trouble to get smooth fps with both Arma and IL2.

I'd better upgrade to an Intel Quad pack.

Thanks, keep up the good work.

[quote="Fly!"][quote="StarGazer"]Fly,
Thanks StarGazer.
In BlackMediumSPD.eff look at the colors line: ex:

Color0 0.65 0.65 0.56 1.0
Color1 0.65 0.65 0.56 0.0

This is R G B transparency(alpha)

snip . . . . .

Fly,
Thanks a bunch.
I was poking around the color settings but wasn't sure which file and which value to change. The permutations of possibilities overwhelmed me and I must say that all blue smoke doesn't cut it for the suspension of disbelief Smile

This is great information and a big thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers.

Fly,

Thanks again for a great mod, really happy with this. One small point, is that i do not seem to get the small white contrail that used to happen after a fuel leak or other minor damage, is there any file setting i can adjust to get this effect back?

Thanks again

regards
