QMB+ With 1.1?
#1

Has anyone tried adding QMB+ to the UI1.1? Did it work? Were there any special problems to overcome?

It's the first thing I added, no problems.

Also added AI 1.7, no problems.

Works just fine under UI 1.1. Just remember to do the file edit called for in the readme.

Please note that if you have QMB Plus enabled and fly online, if the host has CRT=2 security set and does not have QMB Plus installed/oeprational on his machine ... you will be kicked for having an incompatible game version (or wording to that effect).

Seriously?? is that how it works? Does that mean I must have an exact copy of the servers MOD files I wont be able to join that server, (provided they enforce crt=2)

That shouldn't be. there should be some sort of online mod folder in the mods that becomes the default acceptable build. Maybe have dual mod folders, on that is accessed by the server.

That really is very sad. This has to be one of the best additions to add with the new maps. Now that EasyRider has published a complete set of "Template" missions, all that is really needed is a "Self Installer" to get this mod up where it should be. I wish I had the ability to help do this, but I'm afraid it is beyond me!
Do we know why this Mod is particularly vulnarable to CRT=2?

Not just the QMBPlus,it is the way it is

Drop the QMBPlus folder into your Mod folder and use it according to the instructions.
Create a shorcut to it,when you want to fly Online.Use your shorcut to get to the QMB+ folder and then simply put a minus sign in font of the name on that folder ...Which will diasable a Mod
Then go fly online!

Myself I put a -Minus signs in font of my old files and my old Mod folder....
Then I installed the new UI

I have both versions 1.0 and 1.1 in the same game and they both work fine.
The set I am not using have a minus sign in front of the name ,when I want to switch from 1.0 to 1.1 I just rename my folders.

If I want to fly online I use my total un added to 1.1 version.
When Off-line I simply rename my folders again to revert back to 1.1

Easy

Wish I had your brain EasyRider!
Excellent...... to get us by.

Now......can you do a Mod for my brain with a self installer?

Would have been much better had AAA provided QMBplus with UI1.1 that way you wouldn't have to do the rename dance for something that is a mission building tool..

Unless it is of course a gateway for hackers to game crt=2...

Would it be possible to modify the present Switcher (4.08 Mods off, 4.08 Mods on, 4.09 Mods off, 4.09 Mods on) to switch between UI 1.0 and UI 1.1 for the two "Mods on" options?

4.08 Mods off
4.08 Mods on- UI 1.0
4.08 Mods on- UI 1.1
4.09 Mods off
4.09 Mods on- UI 1.0
4.09 Mods on- UI 1.1

It would save renaming each time for each purpose and avoid possible mis-naming or other foul-ups.

The online purity is preserved and avoids two or more installations---yikes, that's a lot of harddrive space. What with added campaigns, skins, mods, etc., my game is over 22 GB now. I anticipate that many new mods will be coming down the pipe to add more delights for those that choose to do so.

What say the guru's?

Many thanks to AAA and the host of people whose time and effort have lifted the best to much greater heights. Hoo-Rah!!!

The hardest part about getting QMB to work with 1.1 is finding QMB!
But it works fine, I just want to find a way to set it up for the Libia and Malta maps!

I can confirm that QMB+ works just fine with UI 1.1.

Very simple install, I just copied and pasted the folder and then added the required lines in the instructions.

FWIW, only those servers running "checkruntime=2" security will boot players with QMB Plus acitve. I suspect those will only be online "war event" servers and dedicated dogfight servers that wish to restrict the mods players are using.

I'm still looking for a definitive list of mods that are compatible with crt=2 security, and/or those mods that are not compatible (such as QMBPlus).

There is a utility being designed (by others, not me - though I will be part of the testing phases) that will allow players to select any of several "profiles" the user creates, including stock UI 1.1 and/or server-specific mod sets, so that the activating or de-activating of mods is done quickly and effortlessly. It is being designed under .NET 3.5 SP1, so users interested in it will need to have that installed. Search Microsoft's site for download and installation instructions of the .NET package.

This isn't a mass folder "move" utility like Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler, since it has been determined that such a tool -while useful in many cases- simply won't work very efficiently with the massive number of folders/files that could potentially need to be moved around in a modded IL-2 installation. In my own tests of JSGME use, I found that it took almost five minutes of file copy to activate or deactivate mods I use over and above the UI 1.1. That's too much time, and too much disk activity, to be a viable option in this case.
