4 minutes to shut down PC in Vista 64.Does this picture help
#1

Not sure what changed, but now it can take about 4-minutes to shut down vista.

In the event log is shows that there is an issue, but linking to Microsoft says it doesn't know what the problem is.

I have taken a screengrab showing the logs, but can anyone point me in the direction to go from here, to actually track the program that is causing the hang in shutd down.

I've zipped the image up and it can be d/l from mediafire.

Can anyone help me with this, cheers, MP.

Hi

I haven't got Vista loaded atm, so I can't check, but, in your screen cap, above the Windows directory in the left hand column is there a "Performance issues" folder? When you click on one of the performance events under that category (if there are any) it displays something like this:

This is the old fashioned way - try this -

Go Start and type into the search field:

perfmon /report

press Enter

It will hopefully give you more info...

Good luck

Do you use this? While your using your computer?

Some times boosting your start up can help the shutdown go faster.

My trick go to run (Windows Key +R)

Type msconfig

You can go to the services tab and hit the box on the bottom to hide Microsoft services. Now deselect the stuff you don't use.

Then go to the start up tab and deselect what ever you don;t use there.

That way when you shut off your computer there are less process's running there for the pc can shutdown faster.

Also check for updates on those type of programs. Some times the developer's find the bug's and fix them in lator version's.
