A Few Splashscreens
#1

Here are a few splashscreens using screenshots I captured. Most are from winter maps, as they seem to give the best color contrast, as does dawn or dusk scenes with lots of clouds.

Very nice skins mate, I remember asking you for a Greek IAR! Tongue

I especially like that TB3 you made.

Just out of curiosity, what is the emblem at the bottom of the compositions?

Yup, it's one of those IAR's all right, flying in the Italy Africa Greece map, modded with winter textures, somewhere in the Balkans.

The flying angel with a bomb is an insignia from a squadron (American I believe) that I found in an insignia/markings pack somewhere. Don't know from which squadron, nor from which file, but I like the way it looks. It reminds me of the line from 'Saving Private Ryan' when the dying captain watches the ground support planes that just bombed some German tanks and calls them 'angels on our shoulders'.

The TB-3 is just a sort of fictitious air liner/transport vaguely based on Spanish Republican schemes. I made a number of these as Red Cross transports first, but this one looked quite nice without the markings.

By the way - on the second to last image, there is an I-153 with a Cyrillic slogan. I think I can sort of make out that it has something to do with America, but if so, I wonder how an I-153 would figure in? It was certainly not a Lend-Lease plane at all. So I'm probably wrong anyway.

But, is there anyone who can give a translation?

...I think it means "American Squadron".....

Американская Ескадрила (Amerikanskaya Eskadrila) - American Squadron.

Thanks for the translations - I'm deducing that this is therefore a fictitious skin, not based on a historical aircraft. Don't know who made it, but it's a great looking skin in any case.

Thanks again for the translations.
