A small demand for modeurs ca would be nice to make the mosquito

From the beginning of 1944, Coastal Command operated with Mk. VI armed with eight rockets of 60 books(pounds) (27 kg) for raids(treks) anti-ships. (Max Guedj Nomm

I likewise hope one of our modders will build a rocket equipped versions of the Mosquito VI and the Mosquito XVIII . Both versions should be easy to make. As far as I know, they were similar to the early Mosquito VI we already have in the game. Only the 57 mm gun and racks for the rockets have to be added.
Both Mosquito versions were used by the Banff Strike Wing and I would like to include them into the modded version of my Norway 1944-45 DGen campaign, you can download at Mission4today.

I asked (humbly) for some later Mosquito FB some time ago. No luck.... Nobody was interested in make it. The FB VI we have now it's the first version. Not very useful in late war, very easy to intercept it in the Luftwaffe fighters.

It shouldn't be a problem to add rocket racks and a 57 mm gun to the existing Mosquito VI model. I would do it myself, but I have no experience in plane modding, therefore I had hoped someone else would be interested in doing this work.

Btw, does anyone know if the late Mosquito VI had more powerful engines than the early VI version or did they use the same engine?

The Mosquito VI used different Merlin engines:

-Merlin 21 (1280 Hp)
-Merlin 23 (1390 Hp)
-Merlin 25 (1620 Hp)

I'm with all of you guys on this - this is a missing aircraft that was a vital part of the Allied North Sea/English Channel/European Coast Arsenal in its most prolific configuration ( 25lb AP or 60lb HE rockets). NOt as common with the 57mm cannon - but a lot of fun against shipping targets.
I also think it could be produced as a new slot Mossie FB VI C (Coastal) without having to do an entire aircraft overhaul.
I am happy that there are others out there interested as well - I think this will be the fourth or fifth time I've tried to champion this baby on different threads.

For any of you modders who are on the fence, try reading the chapter on Max Guedj in Pierre Clostermann's excellent book "Flames in the Sky" and tell me it doesn't enthuse you to create this bird.

Most Sincerely

I've been wanting rocket-firing Mossies too, I don't know why they weren't included in the first place. Probably a similar reason to the Do-17, if there was one - since both were by no means rare, yet they were not included while rare and postwar/'fantasy' planes were.

Absolutely with you on the need for the correct versions of Coastal Command Mosquito variants.. that would of course include the Mk XVIII

I agree that the Mosquito FBVI we have now is a out of date for late war. Has anyone thought of doing a new FM for a new slot "Late War" FB VI?

Good to see that I am not the only one who is interested in a late war Mossie. Let's hope one of our talented plane modders decides to build one.

I have a question, does anyone know if the Mosquito XVIII only used the 57 mm gun or was it able to carry rockets like the later version of the Mosquito VI?

Not got my references to hand, but I believe it could carry the same ordnance load out as the FB MkVI.. but was quickly superceded by the fitting of amourpiercing rockets that became available to other variants.. it was also fitted with four .303 MG's in the nose.. (reduced to two on some aircraft to allow for heavier fuel load)
