[WIP] I-16 Rata cockpit v2
#31

I see..few gauges need a little correction. Will do it in few days.

The cockpit is great, esp. version 2, but the reticle doesn't work. My Il2 is a mess of Unified Inst + various mods, but any guess as to what can cause it? The reticle glass is blank, both the "normal" and "alternative" version provided with the cockpit repaint.

Otherwise, it's simply a joy to fly the Ishak with this repaint. I just started "The Siege" campaign and remembered the long-forgotten, adrenaline rush feeling of fighting 109's with the poor old I-16. Big Grin

Mangas Wrote:Hello, Istvan. I was sure you'll turn your attention to cockpit repainting sooner or later.
Beautiful work over that I-16! Thank you...

P.S.: the only thing I would suggest is that you make inside walls not so grey... Actually, the blue colour should prevail:

What do you think?

P.S.2: if you'll decide to make any other VVS planes cockpits in the future -- I may give you the detailed instruments I made recently:

P.S.3: I hope you're doing just fine, mate.

Sincere regards,
Mangas.

This tachometer is from Yak's cockpit. In I-16 such gauge differs from that one.
The right side of the cockpit is wrong. At the bottom there should be a fuel comsumption gauge in kg, instead of current combined fuel/oil pressure and oil temp gauge. At the top there should be a fuel gauge instead of water pressure gauge.
Thanks for trahslation to LSA.

SandMan Wrote:Some images of the original cockpit scheme, VPMedia's updated version... and a bonus. A few pics of an I-16 taken at Midland, Tx this past September. Can't say if the interior colors of the real one honor the original colors of the aircraft or not.

Sadly the I-16 did not fly, as it had a landing gear problem. I was really hoping to get a video and/or sound recording of it.

No idea why the pilot had a bungee cord wrapped around the stick, other than perhaps to ensure the elevators didn't drag on the ground...

The bungee cord around the control column is probably being used as a control lock.

Nope, its being finished. I'm making a cockpit pack which will include the CR-42, the I-16 and the I-153. I finished them few days ago, but need some time to do final check. I'm also working on the new skins for the russian ZIS vehicle group, but that need few more weeks. After that I'll probably go back to build campaigns and skins again because most of my mod dreams are already realized thanks to the lot of talanted ppl here. Smile
