My current WIP- the Memphis Belle- almost finished
#1

Hi all, just thought I'd share my latest project with you all- I'm doing the memphis belle, probably one of the most well-known bombers of all time... but surprisingly very few skins have been done...
I'm working from several photos, trying to make this one as accurate as possible.
Please keep in mind, these are VERY WIP, so there is still a lot of work to be done. Since this is such a famous aircraft, I'd love to hear what you guys think about it... comments, criticism, suggestions, etc are all very welcome.

*ignore the bomb tally on the wing... it will be corrected...

I'm also thinking about doing one without noseart, and using the game's noseart option to get a higher-res version of the famous artwork...

*another pretty important note- you will need Jarink's B-17 Mod, available here for this skin to work correctly, otherwise the nose windows and such will be off...

Very impressive, Jaypack. I feel a connection to the Belle, considering that I personally knew both the pilot, Robert Morgan, and the Tail gunner, J.P. Quinlan. Keep in mind that the blue swimsuit is on the right cheek, and the red one is on the left cheek. I know this is a beta, though. Great Work.

ooooo, I like the patch work stank you have on it, too many skins are too pristine for the 17 (IMHO)

Is that camo or stank you have on it. If it's stank I'd say tone it down just a tad because it almost looks like fighter camo. It's looking great so far and please don't take my comments as too critical, just trying to help Wink

The blotches are patches of Medium green 42 that was applied to many B-17s in the ETO in 1943 to help break up their outline, so yes, it is camouflage.

oh, and while I'm here, some basically finished shots- just need to get it put together and uploaded, so look for it in the coming week or so
