In order for a realistic 8th airforce style bomber mission it would need to be 5 parts to make just one 2 going out and 2 coming back and one for over Berlin. it would take you 2-3 hours just to complete one mission. how ever if you go the MTO or PTO route you got the New guinea map for pacific missions and a map mod here that has Africa Italy and Greece for MTO style mission. Ironicly i ve been mulling over a B24 PTO campaign using new guniea map

Hello Kwangchos,

Check out DixieCapt.'s FEAF Phillipines campaign at M4T (mission4today). Player mostly flies a B-17, and sometimes a P-40. However, I had issues with the Phillipines map halfway through the campaign and thus was not able to complete it.

There are several campaigns for the B-24 at M4T (Mediterranean for US and Atlantic/North Sea for British)

Regards,

RB

In round about a half year you can fly from Norwich to Hamburg in a B-17 formation. Yesterday I made my first testride on my 1:1 northsea map. 4 and a half hours flight time. If you want to fly to L

thanks bohr-r will check out the missions you suggest...... and yes I agree IL2 is not the best vehicle for realistic long range bomber ops mainly due I guess to the timeslip limitations..... mind you I do recall that being a problem even in B17 II The Mighty Eigth. Am enjoying some of the Camel Pond campaign but the time slip is a bind. After all part of the challenge on bomber ops was staying alert enough for the 97 percent complete bordom in order to save your life in the other 3 percent. Only a sad/crazy person would want to do that in there bedroom if they didnt have to right ??

It is important to note that about halfway through this campaign you will find yourself STUCK in the Philippines, with your B-17 having been destroyed on the ground. It's a very story driven campaign with briefings set up like a Diary.

Interesting. I'll try and run this a bit later on...

Only one question regarding this B17 mission pack... The readme talks of a list of required mods. How many of them come in UI 1.1?

I don't want to overwrite something I might already have with an older version. Everything works really nicely at the moment and I don't want that to change.

Cheers,

Rob.

I did a search over there using all the words and each one singularly and came up empty handed, other than a Ki-84 campaign. Anyone have a link? Thanks.

LOL, actually I hadn't gotten that far down into the thread before I had posted that question and just now got back to edit my post but you beat me to it. (at work ya know) Thanks for your kind help in pointing out the obvious. Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor some day.

Well I have no idea how many of the mods that were in the readme I really do have, however, it seems to be running successfully so far. My next mission will see me arrive in Darwin.

The story is reasonably well written, given that it is Sim-Fiction as opposed to an actual short story, and I'm eager to see how it develops.

My only criticism so far is that perhaps the journey accross the Pacific has taken a fraction longer than it could have done but I'm confident that now that I'm about to land at my operational base, things will pick up a bit.

But it's nice to be in a B17. Not that I dislike the Liberator but it ain't no Fortress. Pity it isn't the F or the G variant but hey... If it weren't for campaign like this one, it'd never get flown. I'll be putting in some more air-miles in tomorrow and will devote much of them to this campaign.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Rob.
