Advanced tweaks for IL2 stutter/FPS problems.

Found the problem (God Bless Google) on the card settings Extension Limit=1 caused the problem setting it to 0 fixed it, now I can reinstall Nhancer and play with the various tweaks again. The only problem I have with Enhancer is that there is no Apply button and some settings are there which even the program can't tell you what they do, but it's useful for us perpetual "tweakers".

I reduced from Perfect and amended my conf.ini to those in the 1st post with 2xAA and 4xAF. First time out, I got a warning that my XFX 6800 XT was hitting the max temp warning and was dropping some settings. It usually runs hot ( @ 102-105C) with IL2 after a lengthy loaded mission but this was the first heat warning I have seen. It has never crashed. Timing is too co-incidental to be the aging card, especially with having toned it down. Cleaned out the dust bunnies @ 3 months ago.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Strider you said you cleaned out the dust bunnies but how is your airflow, are all your fans running up to speed especially on your card, I have all my case fans blowing "in" and a fine 1" paint brush for clearing heat sinks. Once had an issue with the PC running hot and could feel warm air on my desk all the time, turned all the fans around and the case feels cool to the touch now.

Well I tried the settings to the config.ini BigSilverHotDog (whewSmile and so far I can't even tell (visually) what I've turned off, except the water. You will most assuredly be reversed on this part Wink So far tho I've noticed that the game is far smoother and I think one of the best ways (this is what I do ok!) to check overall performance is to got into a mission with at least 20 planes and hit auto pilot. Let the game progress and then time warp to fast forward (3 clicks) and see how smooth the game is running with different views and whatnot and I do see a performance increase so far. I am still on perfect setting and will be trying it on "excellent" but there again you will probably be reversed here too. But thank you for taking the time to get this up and available because this is a never ending debate with IL2 and tho each system (as you highlighted about CPU) will like it's own setting this is point to resolve.

System, 3.06Gig 2megs RAM (crutial) ATI 3850 AGP (sapphire)

Yeah, m8. Thanks for the reply.

I have good airflow. I have the front door of the Dell 560 workstation open and removed the bars for a couple of unused bays to allow more air flow. A distinct cool flow is felt when I hlod my hand in front of it.

The rig does run hot under normal load (HDD-45C---GPU-86C).

Just curious why reducing the demands on the card would cause such a heat increase. Something stressed the card, is my guess.

Thanks, m8!

Hi
My rig is a notebook acer aspire 2930Z
I would like to ask you if you could tell me some tweaks for il2 FPS on such a low end pc.
I have problems especially on slowakia map, but by your tweaks on this forum and by lowering view distance to wery low I was able to manage to get 20 FPS, but in large forest areas it sometimes dropps around 15.
Setting object lighting and detail to low makes little difference, such as landscape detail. Landscape lighting is tuned down to high, because excellent made big FPS loss.

My spec: Core duo T3200 2GHz, 3G DDR2 RAM, Intel accelerator 4500M

Thanks
