QMBPlus and take-offs and landings on CV once again
#1

Well, we all know that in order to make mission flyable in QMBPlus without "Wrong target selected" report we must create, e.g. in FMB, four german flights and four russian flights on the map included in conf.ini.
Moreover, as I have found it repeatedly, each of the four flights must belong to the same Squadron No.1 , otherwise the "Wrong target selected" report will appear again.

No one of these basic eight flights can take-off from CV. But, as it may be proved, landing on CV is possible to these eight flights, i.e. also to Player.

Besides the above basic, compulsory eight flights, we can add other AI aircrafts, which may be of different nationality, selected fixedly in the mission, not affected by QMB choice any more. These basics of QMBPlus were reported earlier, e.g. by FatCat, the creator of QMBPlus. The Squadron numbers of these excessive flights are not restricted to No.1.

I tried now and proved that these other AI aircraft can both take-off and land on CV without any problem. This feature enables further and deeper immersion of the virpil (virtual pilot) into the virtual reality of QMB missions. This behaviour of aircrafts was tested in None and Scramble missions, both for Red and Blue, on Midway, Manchuria and Hokkaido maps. Some of these missions include the above described AI take-off and landing on CV. There are dive and level bombing, torpedo attacks, dogfights and, as an eye-candy, take-off of 3 B25 from the carrier, with landing on Sukhaya Rechka airfield. The missions are not historical, especially it concerns the CV used. If anybody is interested in these quick missions, here is the link:

Note: Perhaps there is a bug on Hokkaido map: the draft (sea-gauge?) of aircraft carriers seem to be increased markedly on this one map. The aircraft carrier ships sit much deeper in the sea than on other maps tested. The take-offs and landings are, however, possible with some precautions.

I hope I did not invented a wheel.
Sorry for my broken English.

EDIT:
Hispano-Belgian team reported and delivered me the patch to Hokkaido map succesfully solving the sinking AC issue. Stay tuned to their reports.

Laziness is the mother of progress. My QMB missions can be found here:

Hey that's good news! I didn't think of trying it out with the extra flights, of which I almost always end up adding to missions I create just for the reason you mention- increased atmosphere. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks a lot for this. Really appreciate it. Have been a little short of time, the new UI and dating slowed me down a bit Tongue

Yep, this is a pretty cool feature I figured out as well recently, while trying to get my AC to launch from a carrier in QMB. Couldn't get the first 4 flights to do so, but 5th and onwards can.
