i thout i shot down a zero and he was spinning out from turning too hard, after i shot him then he pulled up behind me, and i turned around sharply and he wasnt there, i was at 3000 meters he was at 20 when i saw him so i pointed down and let out a half second burst with my 50 cal and 1 bullet hit and, he exploded! it only happend 1 time in playing il2 for over a year.
AFAIK 50cals only have a range of 2400 meters. I'm sure he meant 2000 meters for his enemy, which is still a very lucky shot.
i did mean 2000 meters, but im not sure exactly, anywhere between 2300 metes and 2012 meters i think. and i didnt have icons on i just saw the white skin with lil' red circles and i shot him beside the wing in the fuel tank and about 1 second after hitting, BOOM lol
ANOTHER LUCKY SHOT!!! IT JUST HAPPEND here it is - i was with a group of U-2vs's there was four of us, then a a6m-n comes up behind us and my tail gunner shot him and he just blew up! it was a miracle!!!!!!! im not lieing about this only a few minutes ago!

Zeros fuel tanks are badly protected, its very easy to make an A6M explode. The U-2VS gun is slightly better than the 50 cal American gun, you can even make a zero explode with 7.7 mm guns.
