This is one awesome mod Smile

Imho the best one out here so far.

Only the internal sounds seem a little loud, how can I adjust that?
Adjusting the levels in the .prs file? --> which entry?

Or by lowering the internal files volume?

Thanks Eexhaton, I really like it too.

If you just change the [spl] level in the presets file it will change the level of both the interior and exterior files. In order to lower the interior sound level separately from the exterior volume you will have to reduce the volume of the 3 interior sound files.

There are 5 files used in all (2 exterior & 3 interior):

50cal_ex1.wav
50cal_ex2.wav
50cal_in1.wav
50cal_in2.wav
50cal_in3.wav

The easiest way to lower the volume in Windows XP is with the Microsoft Sound Recorder program.

Open the Sound_New_50cal_v1 mod
Open the Samples folder
Right click on 50cal_in1.wav
Select Record (this should open the file with the Microsoft Sound Recorder program)
Select Effects
Select decrease volume

That should decrease the volume 25%. Save and do the same for the 50cal_in2.wav and 50cal_in3 files. Save them too and see if that lowers the interior volume enough. If it's still too loud just repeat the process until it gets to a level you like.

You can also download the free sound editing program called Audacity and get a lot more precise with your editing.

I'm not sure how to handle this if you are running Vista.

Good luck.

I just listed the .30cal version. It works on the US .30cal Browning and the British 303s.

Thx, i'll fiddle around with it.

I once was a sound-modder aswell, using audacity, sndrec32 and adobe audition (cooledit pro2), so i'll manage Wink

I might start a soundpack or 2 myself Smile

1 small thing though, in your reply you mention 5 sounds, but your latest version (3), you included only 4 sounds.
Is this a spelling mistake or a missing soundfile? Tongue

V3:
50cal_ex1.wav
50cal_ex2.wav
50cal_in1.wav
50cal_in2.wav

I knew that was going to come back and bite me on the ass.

Sound_New_.50cal_v1 is the latest version. I just updated the first page post and removed the older versions. Sorry for the confusion on the version numbers, but I intended on submitting this to the final sound mod area for approval, but decided to post it here instead for feedback first.

Works great on my installation. Check and make sure you don't have another mod loading before this one. There are plenty of them out there.

Anyone else have this problem?

HH_Cipher,

Are you by any chance running the Unified Installer Version 1.1? If so try this version and see if it works on the 303's.

Let me know if it works, I'm not running the UI version so I can't test it.

If you go to your files/presets/sounds does it list a weapon.MGunBrowning303s.prs file? If so then I think the new v2 I just posted may work for your unified insatallion version 1 & 1.1.

Oooh your 30-cals sound so good, it's almost as i'm actually flying in Battle Of Britain Their Finest Hour - being Michael Caine.

New and improved.

Check the first post for Catahoulak9_Sounds_v3.

It's much better. I am pleased and I can rest now.
