Has anyone here successfully got a Mossie off the floor while packing the 4000lb Cookie bomb?
I've tried numerous times on runways of various length and am really struggling. The closest I got to airborne so far was at full throttle, landing flaps down for as much lift as possible, and the entire length (plus a fraction more) of a good length concrete runway and I got about a billionth of a micron from the ground before I then dropped off the edge of the island and into a lake for a soft crash.
Is there something I'm missing? I've always thought of myself as an accomplished sim-pilot so this is frustrating me somewhat.
Cheers,
Rob.
Have you tried Boost/WEP?
make sure you have the latest version of the plane. IIRC, a previous version had a FM glitch, resulting in extremely long takeoff runs
I should have the UI 1.1 version. I'd hope for sake that included the up to date one.
But then there is a chance I fouled up somewhere so I'll re-download just for safety.
The boost/WEP... I presume you mean the top 10% of the throttle range? In that case, yes. Thus I'm at full throttle. If not, please specify if there is something I'm missing.
boost/wep is different in most planes to the top 10% of the throttle mozzie included, u need to assign a key to it in the controls menu (if there isnt one assigned already) i dont know what it does in terms of mechanics but it gives the engines more power.
In Spitfire, Mosquito, La5/7 and FW-190A, for example, the Boost/WEP (default key W) increases the manifold pressure of the engine giving a lot more power. In some planes (late Bf-109 versions, Ki-84 etc) the same key is used to enable Water/Methanol injection, again more power (do not switch the MW-50 in BF-109 on or off at 100+% throttle or you'll ruin the engine). So try to press W while flying different planes and see what happens.
On the Boost/WEP list in a propetries file, i've seen a line with "Afterburner activated", i tried the whole jets of the game but any of them had this. Normal or not?
Well... I tried the Boost/WEP button while charging down the runway in the Mossie... And I got airborne with runway left in front of me.
Thanks for the help. I never mapped that key because I always figured that since some aircraft come with an extra 10% of throttle range and some even say Boost/WEP when you go into the extra 10%... i just always assumed it was the same thing but a button for keyboard flyers maybe.
Well this puts a whole new angle on several things.
Thanks again.
Rob.
