Found some interesting info...

The B-25 N5 144 was assigned by the RAF to No 684 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron in India.
it retained the NEIAF registration number N5 144.

18-2-1943 - One of six 18 Squadron B-25s taking part in an operational mission over Dili.
At approximately 10.45 the formation was intercepted by five Zeros with action lasting until 11.30 when N5-144 force landed in the Timor Sea approximately 140 miles south of Dili.

During the attack this aircraft received direct hits which killed the pilot, put the starboard engine out of action and damaged the tail. It is also probable that Sgt Tyler was killed during the attack as when he was ordered to proceed from the nose of the aircraft to the navigator's cabin in the centre of the aircraft he did not reply.

I always found this profile highly unlikely. Early 1942, all NEIAF planes got Dutch flags painted on. This was because the Orange triangle's could be mistaken for the Red circles when viewed from a distance. All NEIAF aircraft received their triangles at the factory. Altough B-25's never got to Indonesia before 1945, I think that the B-25's got their flags shortly after they arrived in India.

The batch of B-25Cs were promised to the Dutch, but these too were seized by the USAAF. The first five B-25Cs delivered to this squadron had carried NEIAF serial numbers N5-132, N5-134, N55-135, N5-136 and N5-151. In late June, another five (N5-122, N5-124, N5-125, N5-126, and N5-127) were delivered, apparently replacing the first five B-25Cs which had "disappeared" into USAAF service during the interim.
