Attention PeterD- An Offer for your Sabre
#1

PeterD,
Let me start by saying thanks yet again for the F-86. It has been an all time favorite plane of mine since I was a kid.

Since you put your template out and the BETA of your SABRE, I have been playing and playing with the template.

I would humbly like to ask your consideration and feedback on what I have managed with my feeble Photoshop skills to accomplish for your SABRE. If you deem them worthy, I will send them to you. If not, no harm no foul. I'll just use them myself. I know there are more able folks out there than me.

Thanks Howlin, but I need to give PeterD first crack. You understand.

I agree...
F-86 is one of my all time favorites, that's way I start skinning pilotskins again after more than a year.
I found an old decal sheet from a model that have lots of stencils on it and a blueprint that shows their placement... alas the scale is 1/48 and most of them are unreadable... :?

Me too please..being born in the mid 50s I was first exposed to the F-86 as one of my first model air planes. Please send me a copy of the template as well, when the time is right of course. I just love that plane!!

Yeah I've spent the better part of two days pouring over internet resources trying to find stencils and placement drawings. I can't believe with all the technology we possess today that this is something that is proving....inconvenietnt.

Being a sixties baby I have only ever seen the Sabre fly once, Duxford I think, what a beautifull aircraft. There is a static aircraft preserved at the Midland aircraft Museum in the Uk, maybe the same aircraft I was lucky to see fly at Duxford.

Lovely skin by the way.

All the best, Pete. Big Grin

I have also been playing with the template - re-doing the rivets and lines layers for my own amusement. I decided to put up one of my "test pieces" in the skins download section, an interpretation of an RAF Sabre using a painted skin rather than the polished alloy.

I love this aircraft, it just looks ... right, well done PeterD.

GJE52,
Nice skin. I notice you have different wheels. Make those yourself?

Wow..that is a sweet looking Skin Template..

I'm sure when PeterD see's it he will feel the same way. As talented as he is he is also very open with his abilities.. He was more than willing to allow the F9F project guys to use the new PIlot helmet he made..so I would be shocked if he had any issues with this.

We really need to get a good Mig15 and FM's for both.. Imagine the server you could run.. Mig Alley, or even some 1955 West Germany cold war gone hot scenario.. LW Sabres, USAF Sabres, RAF Sabres.. it would be a hoot to fly in.

Here's a related question.. The late war US Aircraft have marking painted on by default and the "markings" switch for the game controls only the numbering.. P47, P51 etc. Is there a way to set the Sabre so those rediculous default star markings do not get put on it so numbers don't have to be switched off all the time?

I use MAT Manager 3.26 and the Forgotten Counties decal program. I have the same issue. I don't like the star. I think it has something to do with the way the program is well...programed. Personally I wouldn't mind it so much if someone who knows how to change it would swap out the "early" star with the late war star and bar. Does that sound right?

I found a problem with the mat manager I use and the F-86 anyway. When I choose to have the markings on, only the star shows until the plane is shot down then the number pops on. Really wierd.
