This is the exact reason.

Hmm, presumably then they had no problem with the F4F/FM-2 & F6F; only the Avenger. Doesn't quite make sense to me...

I know, it didn't make sense to the rest of the community when pacific fighters came out either. It caused an uproar on the ubi site, everyone was screaming for it and the answer that was given by lexx was the exact one quoted above. Grumman had copyright issues lol. The way i see it is this....... The war was funded by the public, the doctrines where paid for by the government, therefore the planes belong to the public.
So, where is there a copyright?

The game already came out with Wildcats and Hellcats, then the Grumman lawsuit came. The Avenger was supposed to come in a patch, it was already done but because of the suit they couldn't get it in. They made a settlement so that those Grumman birds already in game can stay as-is but no other Grumman products could be used - ever. Probably some money also exchanged hands. Oleg got pissed off so much that he said he'll never again model a US-produced plane.

That's the story in short.

That pretty well sums up the issue, which stemmed from the Pacific Fighters box which printed the aircraft manufacturer's names without permission. If someone had printed the aircraft list with just "F6F Hellcat" instead of "Grumman Hellcat", it might not have been an issue.

Howlin_mad109 Wrote:ok, well i shall spill the beans i am working on a new slot avenger with the help of some other modders, it will be a TBM (Built by general moters) with correct loudouts (droptanks-and other goodies) fm will be correct (90% done already) it will also hopefully have a better more fitting cockpit ( a F6F-3, with a differnt gunsight) hope this little tidbit of infomation shall tide you over till we get further with the project. At the moment there is some snaggs with the cockpit, but i shall keep you updated. No estimated release date yet, hopefully before christmas.

This is great news Howlin_Mad!! Can't wait to fly it. About the cockpit, wouldn't the F2A-2 be better? The canopy opens, and from the inside it seems more like what a turkey's cockpit would look like from the inside than the Hellcat. I've been told that the telescope can be replaced with a reflector gunsight, but wouldn't have a clue if that were true or not. Regardless, looking forward to it. Big Grin

With much more adaptated Cockpit, turret, norden bombsight, corect loadout.....

Thumbs up, Howlin.
Present FM is a shame. Just a bug which can be simply removed, if I know how to do it, or where to replace wrong values.

The stability problem on TBF/M, B5N,B6N planes is FM bug,for example a part of TBF FM file:

I have been waiting for the TBM-3 Avenger to get added to this game (although I don't know how it got left out as a flyable aircraft in Pacific Fighters) for awhile and although I appreciate how hard it is to get a precise FM for any of these aircraft....the current one for this bird is simply way to loose, sluggish, and arcade-like.

Hopefully it simply is just some kind of bug that is affecting the way that the FM for the TBM-3 Avenger currently is set at.
