There aren't really that many. It just seems that there are quite a number in a short time. Which is natural seeing it's a new aircraft with a different look in color schemes and from a somewhat different era.

I count some 44 Sabre skins right now, but I've left a few out since all they differed in were numbering. You should see my I-16 and I-153 folders - 260 skins.

It would be nice if more camo schemes for the F-86 were made though.

For one thing.. its just a beautiful plane and very few (if any) planes have such a WIDE variation of colorful camo schemes..

Wait till the Mig 15 comes out.. Smile

Simply because a usable template was made accessable and theres plenty of Profiles out there on the net with clear colour representation of the nose art without having to study photographs and do it themselves.

The mkXIV spit will be the same, I'm jumping on the bandwagon with that one and will be releasing skins for it within the week if all goes to plan.
I've sorted out references for maybe 10-12 ETO ones which hopefully wont be covered.

I may need to confer with Kristorf to see what hes up to.

I can understand why they make skins like an idiot for a new plane, but 40-50 skins, is that not a bit much, you can only use 1 when you're flyingTongue

i would really like if they make some more air race, or aerobatic skins 8)

Rule number 1 for Sturmovik - there are never enough planes, skins or maps.

Of course you can only fly with one skin at a time, and strictly speaking you shouldn't even be able to see yourself flying either or get all that close to another aircraft so that you can take the time to admire the paint job.

But that's not what it is about with skins. It's the collecting and knowing that should you ever feel like it, you can choose and choose among so many.

Keep this image in your mind: kids in a candy store - and here the candy is for free ... ha ha.

And besides, 50 skins is a lot? C'mon ... ever seen the number of skins for download of Bf-109's and Spitfires on the sites M4T and FL? Sometimes you'd think the entire wartime production of these planes has been skinned.

There are a few tricks to keep skins manageable when choosing in the FMB.

Rename them with a system that you find easy to use. For instance, I started renaming all my skins by simply adding a national prefix in front of the filename they come under. This is useful for planes that come in different national markings and as hacks.

For instance, the Blenheim.

I downloaded a skin named ca311.bmp. Turns out it is an Italian skin. So instead of having to search through all my Blenheim files, all 224 of them one by one on the off chance of finding the one I want for an Italian squadron before i loose interest, I renamed the file into:

ITALY - c311.bmp

and then it's a quick and easy alphabetical search.

Do that for all your skins when you install using a simple national name and part of the trouble searching is over.

Off course you can set up other naming systems as well, by choosing a unit number/name as prefix or a color prefix or whatever. The system is up to you. Just remember the game orders the skins by prefix. So there is little gained by adding naming systems to the end of a filename.

One drawback though - you have to start out doing this early in your install of the game and you have to be systematic about it.

But it does save heaps of time.

yes, i know, i started today with changing names, because with some skins you have masses of text in front of it, so you don't know what kind of skin it is, so i'm deleting all the numbers or the i type for example ''Tempest Closterman NM'' NM=no marking Tongue

but that works fine for me, but thanks for the info

but do you know a site where i can find some useful aerobatic skins, for other planes?? i already know simairracing

cheers
