[DOWNLOAD] KUBAN & SMOLENSK - Russian landscape textures
#1

Note: First of all i want to make clear that none of the textures are made by me; the real author here is Compans who made those excellent BOB textures. I only played a bit with photoshop trying to desaturate some of them a bit and also change the hue a little bit, so they look a bit more "muddy". Afterwards, i spent some hours by trial and error with the load.ini files in order to get the best looks i could.

Here some screenies (some more in our forum):

They only work in 4.09m version.

The pack also includes 4 textures from vp_media and 2 from LAL_RONE excellent Crimea seasons map; so HUGE thanks to these real artists.

Unpack and just go ahead and paste it in your main IL2 folder. If it asks to overwrite, selct YES but prior to that, back up your load.ini files from Kuban and Smolensk if you happen to already have those folders in MODS/MAPMODS/maps.

Hehe; maybe you are right... 8)

Ranwers; did you install and tried it? I ask you this because otherwise the screenshots might be confusing as most of them are taken from high alt, or around places where maps are not quite populated with trees; and i love that, it gives me the sense of Soviet steppe.

Nevertheless; woods and trees are in the same position as in the default maps....so im a bit lost with your question.

In any case try to set Forrest=3 in your confi.ini file; can

Hey, Chimanov, thank you very much! They look great. I'm at my office now so I'll see them tonight
and will take a better look then...

Regards,
Mangas.

P.S.: I have a good news for you: I've started 1st tiny steps to make a new P-39 Airacobra cockpit (I know you love this bird).
Unfortunately, I'm very busy with my main job now, so don't expect the work to be finished untill late summer... But I'm sure you'll like the result...

Thx a lot guys; well...im enjoying these maps a lot; and also glad to hear you like them too.

Mangas; moy "koresh" Big Grin you are absolutely right; i love the "Kobra" and will be looking forward to your work. I have installed all your VVS cockpit repaints, amazing really, IMHO your LAGG3 pit is the best job i've seen so far... and im sure my beloved "snakes" will have the same kind of quality than all others.

I have sent you a PM.

Good show Chimanov ! I have a reworked Map_T file for Kuban that needs a couple issues sorted out that I started a while ago but don't now what to do with now. I'm offering it to whoever wishes, and since you're working on Kuban right now...

It features reworked coastlines, field areas around towns and MUCH more forest on those mountains in the South. I based it on modern Kuban satellite pictures. It's really a learning project so it's far from perfect.

PM me if you're interested. Any takers welcome.

Cheers

Hi sick13; well...i'll try to help. What SoundMod version do you have?

Anyway; don't unpack it to your MODS folder, unpack the .rar archive and you get a MODS folder which you should paste in your main IL2 folder.

Make sure you have modded 4.09m version, because it uses some Slovakia textures as well i think, and it won
