Just a doubt, but i'm afraid that answer will ne no, but it's possible to MOD underwater in this sim??? or is just plain impossible???
Maybe you could splice Silent Hunter 4 and IL2 together.I would never leave my computer if I had a game like that, not that I get up from the thing much anyway.
Hello,
Well I had posted a message a few days ago about the possibility of joingin 2 separate video games in one, but it must be complicated in terms of programming and i need of transcpoding (if the 2 applications were written using different IT language which is likely)..Plus source code is not always available (just like IL-2 1946 I believe)...
If I knew how to do it I would do it right away! Imagine: you are in your GErman or US sub in 1943, you submerge and you are being attacked by a ME-210 or another IL-2 1946 plane and you counter-attack with your AA guns...Or the opposite, you bomb a HUMAN cntrolled German submarine online...
Then the submarine can fire torpedoes at your ships..
Having the ability to control one fleet or at least a batallio in real time would be great (so it would be a mix of RTS , FPS? simulation)...
Last thing: I love Destroyer Command when you can trhrow depth charges at submarines...Doing this in IL-2 1946 would be so great...The ultimate WWII EXPERIENCE it should be titled...
Damn it. We have the technology and power (CPU) to do it, so what are we waiting for?
The problem is that you can do everything to mediocre standards, or focus on one thing and make the game truly shine. In my experience, games which do everything fast lose their appeal once the novelty value passes.
I don't mean merge 2 games, just have underwater modelled in this sim, as when a ship or AC is sunk you can see it under water or when you land in the sea shore you can see the sumerged part of the plane.
I don't think we are asking for perfection or very very high quality graphics like DCS Blackshark (which is gorgeaous I must admit)...Each play in a different category.
For me graphisc in IL-2 1946 are way enough and beautiful...Maybe for you its not enough but we have different expectations, and this is normal...One thing for sure: perfection is not of this world...I don't like mediocrity either, and if I had to rank myself on a scale like Graphic settings in IL-2 1946 I would say I look for HIGH (not PERFECT settings which would take ages to get a "near" perfect game)...
>And I would rather have a less beautiful but complete sim in 2 or 3 yearsthan a state of the art sim that would take 8 years to develop...Life is short, remember :-)
Now when I say "less beautiful", I don't mean "mediocre quality", I mean less beautiful than in DCS Blackshark but better than todays' graphics...I'm not stupid. Its all relative of course...(who sais that already ? :-) There's no question of doing less beautiful than todays technology of course.
So what's the opportunity cost for this? :-)
The only way i can see it will be possible that we put two games together would be if they had the same exact game engine.
Or at least really similar ones. And yet still i would take WAY to long to merge them correctly.
I wonder if you could write a 3rd program that could translate some of the game info (4 online play) from each game and play back the basic aeroplane/submarine/battleship information in the format of the game each player is engaged in? Let me explain; I'm playing IL2 1946 (so everything I see is from the game IL2 sub's,ect) but the subs location, movement and actions are generated by the output of player B (who is playing Silent Hunter). Player "B" only see's a Silnt Hnter aeroplane buzzing him but the info is coming from my game....
Their could be some game lag between people...and you would need a common map...IF it could be done it would be a lot of work...
