Using vsync on on my system (yes i have a 24" widescreen lcd) accually crashes the graphics and all kinda distortions apeir on my screen.
So i use vsync of.
I have the latest dirx and all other as.Net java and so on.
Testing and finding the right one of the 5 dlls thats possible to download here from AAA helps alot on the graphics too, but is something everyone has to try themself as different dlls seem to work different on each and every computer.
As i fly alot online and using TS overlay i see the FPS all the time and therefor know what i usually get og FPS on different maps, and from this knowledge i can then see what the different Nvidia drivers do to my game.
And from what i can see the Nvidia 178.24 is the driver that gives me the best graphics and FPS.
With the 180 drivers and upwards i get graphic abnormalities ad bas system performance.
Also remember that the companies making the graphic cards and drivers usually finetune these to give the best possible resault on the benchmark programs as alot of people use these benchmarkers as a holy grale for whats good and not.
I use a program from iobit called gamebooster to turn off all uneeded running programs under windows xp.
Defragmenting and checking your hard drive(check disc) for foults pluss a regcleaner at least every week will also give you better performance in game all over pluss maybe get ride of some gameproblems.
I have my games on a seperate partition so i defragment both C:/ and my game partition at the same time using a program called smart defrag.
