Because it never went into production?

Well at least it actually flew, as opposed to a few others that are in the game. *cough*Lerche*cough*TA-183*cough*

F and G models would be a more mature choice.

Agree 200 % with Bee...

I agree with Bee on the F and G models. But please don't forget the H model.
The L and L_late models we have in the Sim are intended to be the P-38L-1-LO and the P-38L-5-LO respectively. It would be nice to have them in the correct denomination.
As for the K, it flew only as a prototype, as Buzzsaw recalled...
Personally will welcome the P-38M, wich was the nightfighter variant of the Lightning, obtained by modifying some 170 P-38L-5 directly on the production line. A Radar operator in a cramped cockpit behind the pilot, a radar pod under the nose. Black paint. Nice look. And yes, flame-dampers on Mgs and gun muzzles.

What about making the J an F/G appearance wise and the L a J (remove airbrakes) the L-Late can be the L-5 Lo or whatever, I don't know anything about this but as for new aircraft/FM etc.. I would think a visual mod would be easier to accomplish.

uhm il2:1946, theres quite a few that never went into production so your statement doesnt really present a strong argument.

Um, two K's were actually made and didn't have aircraft problems that weren't solved causing it to be canceled. That's more than you can say for the:
Ta 183
Lerche
Ju 187
He 162B
He 162C
He 162D
Me 262HG
Lippisch P-13A
etc.
Just thought this would be a fun bird. Kinda like the P-51H in the respect that they worked the P-38K out to be more efficient and the best one made.

It can be an idea, if you mean on the sparing time thing... or if only for the eye candy.
Remember the latest J model, P-38J-25-LO already had the "Dive Flaps" (to use the correct denomination) and the landing light moved from under the wing to the leading edge, and the only way to visually differentiate it from an L-1 was by the serial number.
So the L (or L-1-LO for pinpoint accurance) can be changed (only for denomination) to P-38J-25-LO.
If left unchanged, the actual J we have in the sim, without Dive Flaps, is to be considered as a P-38J-15-LO, due to its flat frontal windscreen. ( P-38J-5-LO and first P-38J-10-LO batches had the curved windshield of the earlier variants).
IMHO, as here at AAA we actually do have some really outstanding people that are fully capable to make a "new" P-38 with the necessary slots, why not to give a chance to a P-38F, a P-38G and a P-38H ? (And of course, a M and even a K)?
If we have so many Bf.109 and Spitfire variants, why not the P-38? The more, the merrier!
Or you really want the Lerche stealing all the glory?
I beg your pardon for my "putting the dot on the i", but as a scale-modeller with 38 years in the "business" I'm afraid this is now a kind of an obsession...

In case some are wondering ...
The early P38's are in the works (F/G/H)

That is GREAT news, Monguse!!!
The early P-38's are currently the biggest need for this sim!
