P-38K

I just figure out that there is another version of the P-38 we did not mention : the P-38J "Droop snoot", with a second crew member in the nose to lead bombing formations... that one also could be interesting !!!

Avoir la foi, c'est être plus sûr d'une chose que la raison ne le permet.

With a Norden bombsight, to which one could switch.

The "M" nightfighter would be nice too, yes.

I would love to fly the Lightning I / P-322 just for the experience. No turbo and no counter rotating props.

I wasn't saying that this should never be made for Il2, on the contrary, I would love to have a fly around in it. The question was 'Why not' and the point that it was never a production aircraft is significant.. just as it is when people complain that we have things like the Lerch et al. but not some other 'fantasy' aircraft they want. especially when there are several models of the P38 which saw major combat that arent yet in the game. Wether or not you feel this arguement holds any weight is beside the point, the aircraft which are built will be the ones that those involved in their creation want to make... those at least at present are aircraft which had a notable involvement in the war, they are the aircraft I look forward to seeing.

I agree with you MustangNF, some of the fantasywaffe aircraft which are already in the game are quite ridiculous. It is my opinion that the effort the developers put into them could have been better spent elsewhere. The P38k would at least fly if the flight model was accurate unlike most of the ones you listed, which mostly wouldn't have got off the ground, fell apart or burst into flames... If you seriously want this to turn into a project, all of the tools you need are here on the site for the work required. Except for the 3d modelling which is a different story... I wish you luck.

I've tried that modeling stuff before and failed miserably no matter what help I could find. It was frustrating enough that I won't ever try it again. I thought the P-38K would be nice since there were already other Lightnings being built and it could just be added in to the list. However, I would like to see planes that saw live combat as well like the P-38M. It just seemed like the P-38K was a better what-if plane since it should have been built, could have been built, but wasn't built.
