Moving clouds

Small idea, if there's wind obviously the clouds should move right? Possible to make this come true?

But I think that if clouds were converted to say "smoke" and were made to move your system might get a frame every two days or so...

...might work if we could have a cloud 'object', preferably as a 'vehicle' which could move at a few kph...but who knows the technicalities behind such a mod...

i remember reading an original posting from the developer about the clouds.

Static clouds aren't that important since you are moving in the aircraft. There is a huge FPS hit when the clouds move. So, the Il2 team decided against moving clouds.

When FPS has been a factor the greater good became the thing to do. The number of planes in the air has always been a greater good for IL2 team. So, the choice became 30 planes in the air vs 20 planes in the air. Easy choice, eh?

I'd say it can be done, because the developer definitely tested it.

It can be done then but for what if there's a FPS spike because of it?

This is the philosophy that should be considered when making MODs, if it hits the FPS hard and you can't enjoy the game what's the point. Granted it would be cool and so would dynamic thunderstorms and rainbows and snow that accumulates on the ground but I would rather be able to fly the game with relatively decent FR's than have a bunch of pretty and not be able to fly eh...

Would it not be in a setting because smoke isnt heavy but peices of a broken wing are, I see in another sim once debrie that just floated in mid air (blown by the wind ) because its value was set too light.
Just a thought !.
