Adding Old Mapmods to UI
#1

Since this is not, I think, a bug, I am writing it here. Hopefully it's in the right place.

I have a question re adding some map alternatives to my installation of UI.
I am trying to add some of my older Map Mods that were not included in UI into my UI installation.
In attempting a manual installation, I can't find the all.ini file for the entire map list (formerly, I believe in the main game folder - I stand to be corrected here), and hence I get the message as follows when I choose the LAL_Crimea seasonal maps :

section [Map2D]not found in 'maps/LAL_CrimeaMud.ini

I DO have the all.ini in my Map Mods folder, and have added the correct lines to this folder, but no joy.

Help appreciated

there should be no issues with adding "old" map mods using autoinstaller cos there is no differences in file / mods structure ( old vs UI's) . This doesn't apply to vpmedia's pack which should be installed and checked manually though

As for your problem goes : check LAL_CrimeaMud.ini (notepad) and see if you have all listed files present in Crimea folder (only modded files)... especially ed_maps.tga's ( Map2D)

Thanks for your reply fly_zo.
It seems that I have no Load.ini files in my LAL_Crimea seasonal maps.
I will check the contents of the zip and attempt to repair manually.

Okay, now the maps load in FMB okay, except they are barren of all objects. I know this is not a new problem, but I am unable to find clear direction in any readme from an old map mod.

objects are defined by actors.static file .... make sure file is present ,proper and listed in load.ini

if you're using other folder name for that map ( not default Crimea) then you must have all map files present no matter if they are modded or non-modded cos game can't load them from SFS .

Yes the missing culprit seems to be th eActors Static file for the variable seasons of the Crimea Maps.
How do I get a copy of this file, as I checked the zip containing this Map Mod and there is no actors static
in it ? Or should I be able to access the actors static from the original in game actors static for the Crimea map, and if so , how?

if it hasn't been provided by the author then mod is using default one ... so name of that map mod folder must be "Crimea" and game will load all needed files from SFS .

If need default files please get SFS extractor + latest filelist.txt and extract all fb_mapsXX.SFS files ( game root) into one folder and you'll have all files for all maps ( default)
