Hello all,

For some reason, I used to be convinced that all models of the Fw-190 in the game have automatic prop pitch. But recently I saw a post where someone mentioned flying a Fw-190 with 90% prop pitch. I checked in-game, but no matter what keys I assigned to the function, prop pitch in the Fw-190 did not change. Now I wonder if someone could please tell me which variants of the Fw-190, if any, have variable prop pitch. While we're at it, how about the Bf-109?

Default key to enable Prop Pitch is Shift 0 (zero).
You can then change the pitch.

All versions of the FW-190, TA-152 have variable pitch capabilities as do the 109's.

*** DO NOT USE PROP PITCH ON THE 109's UNTIL YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE CORRECT OPERATING RANGE (RPM'S) FOR THE DIFFERENT MODELS!!!!!

In real life both the 109 and 190 had systems that automated almost everything from fuel mixture, supercharger stage, prop pitch etc. It was so automated that the pilot had only to worry about the throttle and the system took care of the rest. It was very efficiant and reduced pilot work load considerably.

The only time the system was (Overridden) was in an emergancy if the system was damaged you could put prop pitch to manual and limp home at lowered RPM's

All 190's had this sytem and the 109 had them installed on the E-4 series onward. By the Battle of brittian most 109E's had been or were in the process of being retrofitted.

Hello,

Thank you to those who provided some helpful input in regard to my Fw-190 prop pitch question. I tried the shift + 0 command in game with the Fw-190A-4. However, this only seems to toggle between "Prop pitch: Auto" and "Prop pitch: 100%". If I want 90% prop pitch, for example, I need to bind a specific key to that function. Is the game supposed to work like that?
Freiwillige mentioned that in real life prop pitch and several other engine management functions were automated for the Fw-190. Does this mean it would be more realistic to turn "complex engine management" off when flying a Fw-190 in IL-2-1946?

Even in the sim it should automate everything with complex engine managment on. Just leave the prop on auto.
