IL-2 on Mac?
#1

Hello all,

A friend of mine is about to buy a Mac laptop and is wondering whether he will be able to run IL-2 1946 on it.

Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

RB

I run IL2 1946 modded on a macbook pro via bootcamp and XP. No problems encountered.

I haven't played on line yet though.

Cheers

IMO you don't buy a "Mac" for gaming...but then again I have never tried "broke boot-camp"

Because...

Macs are more stable platforms, even when running Windows.

Macs have a better environment for graphic program software (think photoshop, illustrator, flash).

Macs are much less prone to catching viruses, since most simply aren't made for them.

Macs have a lot of functionality built in from the get go, vs having to install special software. Example: On my PC desktop, I can't burn a disc containing anything without having to fire up Roxio or whatever. XP is supposed to have drag and drop burn capabilities, but mine never worked. Annoyances like this are a big reason why Macs are better. Yes, its true Macs are pricier than most standard PC notebooks, but I wouldn't trade my macbook pro for any PC laptop, and that includes the insanely overpriced gaming ones.

macs are truly for simplicity, PC are more complex.

I personally like PC tho. Probably for two reason 1 im more familiar with it and 2 because ever one eles has them, And third probably because there flexibility (Which can be a burden in disguise)

Fav os: Windows Xp
(2nd) Kubuntu

Last: Vista - Now i have to say im not just saying this because it's become fashionable in a way but like i said since i fix PC all the time about 75% of the time it's vista related problems. And vista alot of times tries to fix it self only Fucking it self up more when your playing with sensitive files.

i'm trying to persuade my parents to let me get a macbook white for school and also gaming reasons. a friend of mine is exceptionally good with macs (not a hacker, but definitely capable) and he says that he can use a recovery disc to install windows via bootcamp for gaming, and then i'd use the mac version of OSX for school and research. i am guessing that a Nvidia GeForce 9400m by default would be capable of running most older and newer games without difficulty?
