Correct scale
#1

Is it possible to set this game into a correct scale? You just need to put a small fighter flying above houses and you'll see what i mean plus the vehicles look like ants in comparison with the planes. Same thing happens with everything! by shortening the planes size maybe we could have normal sizes between objects and aircraft.

jep!..or maybe the reverse: increasing the scale of objects..

I'd say increase scale of objects perhaps? (if you squeeze down my 109 any more I won't fit in  )

Whilst not a huge problem I have always been slightly confused by the size of tanks/perspective when strafing - however I'm thinking perhaps the slightly smaller scale vehicles is in someway to do with the impression of speed/perspective during ground attacks?

I'm sure there are technical bods here who would know the correct answer.

Can anyone come up with a picture of a plane parked next to a panzer for comparison - in game & real?

Ive asked for the scale before without getting any answer to it at all.

Maybe objects are made in scale to original oleg maps??
Or maybe the scale has been more or less what you feel it should be??

But yes it seems abit odd when objects and so on are set up against eachother.

Changing the scale would involve manually editing hundreds and hundreds of msh or hier.him files. There's no 'one-button' solution that would just change the scale.

For me it would be enough to make the tanks and vehicles bigger

This would almost call for a full IL2 rescale project.

Starting with the pilots - someone suggested this aswell, up to the groundvehicles at the very least.
Sadly, if CanonUK is right, it might be too massive to attempt.

I don't doubt there'd be a lot of support for a full rescale project, but I can't see anyone envying those volunteered to do it... Tongue

I agree with canon.
But wouldt there or shouldnt there be some kinda scale to work out from on new objects added to the game so things get to look how they looked in real life compared to each other??
Abit weird if it apeirs a mtb as large as a battleship in the game!Smile

Editing the scale of objects that have a hier.him is easy but time consuming. Aircraft have a hier.him.

Building and vehicles do not, so must have their mesh converted, loaded, scaled, reconverted and tweaked for bugs.

This picture got me even more confused. In game the pilot is smaller than in real life when in comparison with a King tiger lol

Well, the most awfull thing are the small buildings...the Reichstag in Berlin is smaller than a B29 Bomber ^^

Indeed but tanks and vehicles are targets for our planes and its the main problem. Some tanks are so small that not even a man of the pilot's scale can be inside it but in the other hand some tanks are bigger than reality like the example shown above, this is so confusing. :?

... silly question but couldn't we have option like having FOW increased in cockpit but without zoom of cockpit itself , that way we can see larger objects without any model editing

just a thought

If it were possible, I can imagine it being a trippy experience. Moving your head a bit and your binocular view races across the background, while the cockpit looks normal. Big Grin
