IL2 creates a fatal error
#1

Well, i don't like to post these things, but IL2 will load up fine, operate as fine as you like, but get into a mission and it'll just go 'phut' after 5-10 minutes and switch the entire computer off just like that. I'm not sure why or anything, at first i thought it was a powercut.. But then i realised that only the comp was affected, and that it happened when i used IL2.

Does anyone else get this? Any suggestions?

Tried other games for 10-15 minutes? Running graphic benchmark (Like 3DMark) for 10-15 minutes, while monitoring temperatures and voltages?

others are fine: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , Empire total war, Medieval 2 Total war, Guild Wars, that's it -- no other games on the PC. Thing is, they're all more heavy on the pc than Il2... certainly Empire and Stalker.

Moggy, enable event logging http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

I think it shows up in C also look in IL2 main folder for error logs.

Have you tried a system restore?

hi moggy
I've just got my PC up and running temporarily, after i started experiencing similar problems. i tried everything, starting with system restore, eventually having to format my entire HD partition. it turns out a load of files in my recently-installed UI 1.1 had become corrupted. the HD itself is only 5 months old... Sad
after repairing the first partition, the second partition went 'corrupted' on my ass as well...this time from my UI 1.0 install...so I lost both installs in one day...
i'm not sure how the files got corrupted...but my backups are still intact, thank goodness. i now have at least 2 backup copies of each different install...just in case of this kind of scenario happens...
i sincerely hope your situation isn't as bad, but make sure you have your IL2 backed up, mate. 8)

There is a know lock-up problem with machines using Vista and nVidia cards. If you have that combination, load the new nVidia driver and set your gpu fan speed higher.

I'm not sure, i have a feeling it could have something to do with some Beta WW1 stuff, but no-one else has this problem to the best of my knowledge.. Nothing's corrupted as far as i know, but it is defintely to do with UI 1.11, since IL2 worked fine on sound mod.
