this is arcade mode. go to config ini to turn off. change value from 1 to 0 next to arcade

Backup your config.ini (should be in a root directory of IL-2 1946 installation)
Then open it (with any txt editor, like notepad).

Search for a line:

arcade=1

and change it to

arcade=0

These arrows are a good tool to learn how to shoot as they appear on any planes that are hit, and even on ground objects (as white dots), so you can see exactly where you hit and how many bullets hit. Look at this poor soul :twisted:

I sometimes play with arcade=1 just to see how well I can hit 'm. Also, it looks funny when the screen shows a text "HEADSHOT" and the enemy plane thinks "PK =(" in a bubble Big Grin

i know its old news...but i just tried arcade mode out....haha! its fun!

its most interesting how it maps out every single one of your gun hits...and what direction they were in....i strafed a wounded Ar196 that landed on the water....it seems IL2 even models ricochets off water (maybe ground too) because when you look at the arrows in that case, a lot of them were pointing upward or even backwards from the angle i was firing at him.

its a good reference tool if anything of how the game works.

I don't think these were ricochets, probably cannon shell fragments of the shells exploding near the plane. You can try it out with light machineguns only (which have no explosive content) and see if you get any richochets. I'd really be amazed if they are there.
