Carrier Catapult mod version b4 (updated 3/14/2009)

Such a great mod, if we can get the AI to use the cat. I know it's being worked on, just want to keep this near the top.

great mod. gave it a go with the panther and it worked a treat.

found it a little tougher with big load outs though. maybe the speed could be increased a bit to give more or a push of the deck?

When the actual Panther FM is finalized and released it might help.. either way probably a better idea to wait until the FM is final before tweaking the catapult settings.

With 2X500 and 6 HVAR's and 100% I could not get airborne..not even close really..

so do I... :?

So friction when are you going to mix the Ai mod catapult and carrier take off one?

The initial cadre of AI have been undergoing extensive training on the catapult for the past couple weeks. They're doing very well, in fact in typical AI fashion they seem to be getting a quite arrogant about the whole thing. They should get their final checkout in the next day or two. After that they'll be sent to Air Group 51 for a few days of operational training. If no major deficiencies are noted, they'll then be available for assignment to ships worldwide.

Thats awesome Fireball.. just messing with the new KTO map and the new Panther and the various carrier mods and this catapult make IL2 a whole new game..

The Carrier Catapult mod is now merged with the Carrier Takeoff mod. The latest version of the Carrier Takeoff mod is available here:

Here's a summary of changes in version 5.0 of the Carrier Takeoff mod:

- Carrier Catapult mod is merged into this mod.
- AI can now use the catapult.
- Changed the way AI move into position for takeoff.
- Fixed the problems with AI takeoff in 2x/4x/8x game speeds.
- Slight changes to the placement of aircraft on some carriers.
- Fixed catapult to work on both short and standard decks of CVL's.
- F9F Panther starts with folded wings.
