The mod does not create a skin folder in the skin directory. You must manually create one. The path should look something like this to most of you:

C:\Program Files\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\PaintSchemes\Skins\F9F2_Panther

Of course the drive path may be different dependent upon your windows configuration and other factors but the essential part is you make the folder F9F2_Panther in your skins folder. Then drop in any skins you like for the Panther.

Follow this path into your game folders:

C:\Program Files\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Single\UN\

Of course you may have differences in your path but you will know that already. The important part is you must create a folder called F9F-2B and then drop the two mission files from the .zip archive into there. When you're done you will select SINGLE MISSIONS, then US NAVY then F9F-2B. It will of course be the only mission there for you to choose from.

Alternatively you could just drop the mission files into another plane's folder and remember that when selecting in game.

Heya fellas.

You're all very welcome for the skins. It was my pleasure and thank you for the kind comments. My research shows that VF-51 was actually the first squadron at sea to get the new F9F-3 Panther in May of 1949. Interesting coincidence huh? The dash three had a different engine but was converted later to the same engines as the dash two. Hence the dash two "B" models you fly. Look on the tail and you will notice the -2B in small type there.

These aircraft flew from the USS Valley Forge in combat from fall of 1950 into spring of 1951. Tail color was red and the "E" over the US insignia was for VF-51 achieving an "excellent" rating in a Navy inspection. The squadron's herald is shown below and back from the cockpit. It's slightly out of position from the prototype but necessary due to the limits of the visual model. I also made it over sized so the detail wouldn't be obliterated.

I am four planes into the special skin pack I am painting for fighting 51. In a day or two I will get some more out to you all. When they are all done (and you have them exclusively first) I will post them as a skin pack for the rest of the community. Meanwhile I will share screen shots for everyone's pleasure.

Bolter

I can not express to you how grateful Air Group 51 is that you are doing these skins for us. Everyone in the squad cannot wait to be assigned their very own skin and number. Very, Very, Cool!!!

You will have to come out and hit the boat with the squad sir and see your skins in action!

S!
