Slovenia map & trees
#1

I just started playing the slovenia map. It has some stunning canyons with high mountains.

I am having a problem finding a good area in that canyon to do ground attack scenarios because the road is clogged with trees.

Is there a tool or some way to just go along a road & delete those trees?

You might be able to get rid of them by using the destruction brush in the fmb, thats what I usualy do when I need a longer runway.

hmmm...I opened the destruction tool & played with the sliders, but I couldn't get it to do anything. I guess I don't know exactly how it works. The tutorial doesn't say any more then open & destroy stuff...

What is the secret combination of keys etc to get it to destroy an area?

Thanks...

Holding F and moving the mouse around should work.

If you havnt already found this site, its very useful for FMB tutorials.

Which canyon? I could give you modified map_t.tga file. I'd just need the canyon location Smile

I put trees on the roads on purpose to "simulate" forest roads. once in a while it comes out of the forest and goes back in. Was having a blast on a few missions that you had to get a convoy/train before some point and you only had a few open windows to do it Smile

Since I'll be putting update soon because i screwed up DCG versions of the map... i might just as well include it in the update.

Tx.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you ZUTI.

Starting at the top left of the map going west to east...AA-AH between 21 & 20.
The first part of the canyon is really clogged with trees.
Also just a little further east at the town of Valbrune the bridge for the tracks is quite a bit off.

A little further on the tracks go along the side of the hill. I'll keep looking again and find the spot...,but I know it is in that area, I just can't run across which canyon it's in...

Thanks. I love this map.

EDIT: Ok, are we talking about this railway bridge?

As you can see, on the latest version (1.32 here) this bridge is on the correct position. Which version do you have?

PapaG39: download this file: http://www.shrani.si/f/1j/4c/cD38eRN/mapt.tga , rename it to map_t.tga and copy it to Zuti_Slovenia map folder on your HDD in IL2 installation folder. Overwrite old file. Let me know if it's better.

Ah Ha...I see that the construction crew moved the bridge to the correct area. great job that...

However, in the area from the far left edge of the map starting under "AA" east betweed 21-20, that area is still full of trees over the road. That particular part of the canyon is really done well except for the trees.

I would love to learn how to correct this myself instead of pointing it out to others (you), but I am dumb as a rock when it comes to computers.

Thanks for fixing the bridge though.

It's the same with that map_t.tga file i posted above?

Regarding changing, well, it's easier if i do it myself since i have forests in a seperate layer. If you want to change it, you have to replace RGB value of 25 with another one, say something rading from 0 to 15.

I assume that I am putting this renamed file into the proper place...Mods/MapMods/Maps/Zuti_Slovenia

nside that first Zuti_slovenia folder there is another folder of the same name & I put it it there also.

I still show trees all over the road as mentioned before. I also found the other bridge that doesn't line up with the road. It is just to the east of Pontebba (AC between 21-20)

I know which road this is, it's just that that new map_t.tga fixes that. There are still some trees on the road but not nearly as much as before. And there should only be one Zuti_Slovenia folder under Mods/MapMods/Maps/ folder. The one that you are talking about that is inside Zuti_Slovenia... well, perhaps it came from UI1.1, don't know.

Hmmm... I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I can't see what..
I renamed the file to: map_t.tga then I copied it and pasted it into the Zuti_t.tga folder and allowed the overwrite.

The bridge is now in the correct place, but no change shows up with the trees in that particular area.

It is just a big mystery to me...lol..

thanks anyway..
