Takes about 2 mins sometimes to get the loading screen, then about a minute and a half extra to get to main menu. Unmodded starts up in less than 30 secs.

No difference as far as i know, il2 took about a minute to load before and still does!

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

agracier Wrote:Put it another way - I have some 4 gig of mods ... they are all read while the game loads I surmise, so the more mods the longer the load time ...

Members with 8 second load times and such lightning loads - what's the size of your Mods folder? (excluding maps)

Yes I would agree the more mods the longer the load time, also the faster computer will load those mods faster than a smaller slower computer. How much spyware and crap is on ones computer, when was the last time it what cleaned out and swept and defragged makes a differance for a fast running computer.Faster cleaner computers will read a game faster is all

Heres the size of my Mods folders and then my map folders ,you need to do the math

My Mapmaker install
Mod folder>3.95 gig
Map foldr>816 mb

My play and go online install
Mods folder>8.22 gig
Map folder>3.03 gig

Problem is that exe and dll files for IL2 is not made for that many gigs (or that many files) It will be even bigger problem in the future when new mods came out. I estimate that game will be unplayable in some 6 months if this rate of mods continues. Maybe it is time for new exe and new dlls.

Time that I can get my game in ready state is about 4-5 minutes, and I have 12,5 Gb of it.

[quote="agracier"]My load time has increased quite a lot. I figure around 2 min, and that on a quadcore.

There seem to be quantum leaps in load times too. For instance I was able to fly through loading of 30-90%, with just a small pause at 70%. And now after installing a few mods, the 70% mark suffers a long lag-time, almost as much as the 20% mark.[quote]
same here. unmodded, il2 went from 0 to 100 with a small pause at 15, 20, and 70. now it takes 2.0-2.5 minutes to load.

I have UI 1.11 and over 4.5Gb of mods. From clicking switch and run in Game Switcher to Game screen is about 15 seconds. 3.2GHz processor and plenty of ram helps I think

UI mod 1.11 with not much else other than a TON of paint schemes and co-op missions.

I haven't timed it, but I did notice that when I first installed 1.11 it did seem very slow to load. At that time I had an AMD 4800+ dual core processor. I have since swapped it for a Phemom II 940 quad core. Everything else in the system is the same, it was just a drop-in upgrafe.

Now it seems to load as fast as the un-modded versions did. I think that 2 things helped that. First, the faster processor. Second, I have Vista 64 bit w/8GB of RAM, and I think that Vista's superfetch is preloading a good bit, if not all of it into memory so that it doesn't have to go to the HDD and copy it in.

As long as it does load, I'm happy lol

No probs loading maps. Some larger maps take a bit longer, that's to be expected. I would guess the same could be said for more content to load up initially.

Mine takes about three minutes. Fair swap though, as it looks damn good once it fires up. 8)

I wonder if anyone were to find a way of repacking the UI as an SFS file, if it would dramatically reduce loading times?

1 Min and 12 Sec Load time, used to be about 30 sec. Biggest pause is 5% 20% and then short pauses at 60% and 70% Not too long, time enough to get a beer and a smoke  Good to go

If they can repack sfs files would that help reduce the loading time?
