While looking around the net for stuff I ran across this site. http://www.enginehistory.org/sounds.htm

It has several Aircraft engine sounds that may be of use.

I visit these planes yearly and have seen them fly, sadly they have all, or most of them, been grounded and are now on static display at the Air Zoo. All are pictured in my photobucket link.

A few are not useable as sound mods however the P-47 is the sound that needs to be in game. the present ones are done well but lack that special throaty and clanky startup.

The whole site is pretty cool too.

that 47 sounds like a muscle car. The PW is simular to the gruman on the page, but i can here the difference they mention with the exhaust system. Gives it that lower end garble.

I'm impressed with the sound mod, but the external P-47 is a bit distorted.

I've tried making my own replacement but i can't quite get that hummm.

I used to work on a quake3 Total Conversion. I did alot of sound work I have a pretty decent background with sound production. I use Cool Edit pro mostly, and I have never really looked into sound work for IL2, but I am very interested. I just recently got back into IL2 and Im amazed at the work done on the unified installer, very very very impressed with the communities work, an d I would like to contribute some of my time to some sounds.
I have a rather large library of Radial Engine Merlin, Allison etc etc sounds. Are there any Tutorials on how to work with IL2 sounds? I have no clue where to begin.
