I had also that problem.

I conf.ini hatte ich folgendes stehen:

[Render_OpenGL]
...
Water=3

It was also 1 in game. (And i used OpenGL)

So i did that:

I opened conf.ini again and chanched the setting also there, and it works:

[Render_DirectX]
....
Water=3
....
[Render_OpenGL]
....
Water=3

I hope it helps you

I'll try this but I think that's because u have, as me, ATI cards..........
usually only nvidia can have water 3-4 :wink:

Possibly Commander Shao is running in DirectX (D3D) mode and just Water=3 doesn't work on ATI cards when running in OpenGL mode? No clue, just guessing.

I tried water3 in opengl mode, puting wate 3 also in the config.ini
Conclusion...........................
does nothing :roll:
it will revert to water 1 as usual
so the best thing to do is to put water2, its the max u can get with ATI :wink:

Not what I was trying to get across, so I'll ask;

Commander Shao, you are running IL2 in DirectX Video Mode, right?
Commander Shao, du hast IL2 in DirectX Video Mode laufen, richtig?

So I would conclude that if the answer is "yes" ATI users will sacrifice "Perfect" Landscape for "Water=3".

Also make sure that "Extension limit" is turned to off in your Nvidia control panel.
I know its a little to late to post answer but I will post anyway maybe it will help someone with similar problem
