Just got UI 1.1: cannot add any new aircraft (spit XIV etc)
#1

I've had sound mod for a while; on the recommendations of members of OOF i got sound mod recently. However, i cannot add any new aircraft; both auto installers and manual installed aircraft. I have the new ac installer 3.3; and wrapper, my buttons file should be up to date.

Aircraft i can think of off the top of my head include:
Spitfire XIV and variants
Spitfire XII and varients
Fairey Battle
Typhoon IIb
XP-86 Sabre

I would be most appreciative of any advice.
I have tried both 4.09mb1 version that had mods switched on with no success.

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

I manually install all aircraft and I'm also running with soundmod, not UI 1.1, normally running 4.09mb1 version.

If IL2 has stopped loading can you revert to backup files which allow it to load.

You can use the latest buttons file. It doesn't matter if you don't have all aircraft installed.
I have buttons version 3.3 which is a 772kb file.
Search for buttons to ensure there is only one file.

The aircraft require text edits to:

air.ini
plane_ru.properties
weapons_ru.properties

Disable the aircraft which you have recently installed and remove the relevant text entries from the three files above. The object is to get back to a working system, then add the aircraft one at a time.

this is the thing, IL2 loads up and works fine, it's just that the aircraft do not appear in game. I've edited planes and weapons.ru, and air.ini, created skins folders, checked that the auto installers actually did what they're meant to do, and yes I do have the latest buttons file, it's included in the ac installer 3.3, which i have.

I'm not sure if Typhoon and Sabre are included in the latest buttons file that comes with the 3.3 installer.

That would be the first place to look for trouble - try removing these two. Generally, the final release planes are included in the latest buttons, while the WIP ones may or may not be included.

I must work. I have it all running. UI1.1 in itself is not the reason for incompatibility.

typhoon and sabre have no own FM so no buttons entry for them necessary.

check if you have air.ini and such maybe two times in different folders so other versions are read befor your edited versions.

you sound like you know your way around teh files a bit.
if the game starts, buttons is not the problem, as you may know. it would be a 60% CTD.

Take the Sabre as an example.
I have it running with buttons ver.3.3

Folder structure in MODS should be like this:

I have had errors where Winrar has extracted into a nested folder arrangement and have had to cut and paste the folders to correct it. Make sure the class files have been copied in as shown.

air.ini text should be:
Good suggestion above to search for 2 air.ini. I've had that one happen too.

SABRE air.XP_86 NOINFO usa01 SUMMER

skins folder

C:\Program Files\IL2 Sturmovik\PaintSchemes\skins\SABRE\

that is the file structure of my sabre folder; i have updated the air.ini in the STD folder and, just in case, the air.ini in the FILES folder.

You should only have one air.ini file.
Mine is in MODS/STD/.......etc

I got rid of the FILES Folder some time ago and moved everything into STD,
but I think UI 1.1 uses a FILE folder

The important thing is you should only have one of each file.
Same for the other *.ini files and *.properties files.
