(scuse for my bad english)

Agracier, great work! Have you others Mediterranean coasts in progress?

I began French Coast (Genova - Marseille - Corsica for Provence 15/08/1944) so if you have it in progress, I stop it ;-)
If not, I would like to have similar settings as your work. Specially, coast line, textures, airbases, texts, map_h for elevation..., scale (1/2 for now). Is it possible to have common settings?
e.g scale 1/1 seems too large for Provence, for map_h, I apply brightness (-15) to get less elevation, it seems correct (quite 1/2 also for height)

I always try to keep at 1:1 - for some reason it gives the mountains a better look and feel.

I have a very rough startup of the south of France and a bit of Italy, but it's not even texture assigned yet. And this one doesn't have anything of Corsica or much of the Med either. I kept it a bit smaller in area so that it could stay at 1:1.

But please go on with your map by all means. Never let anything anyone else is doing interfere with your projects ... do your thing.

Also France is a different landscape - more urban, more cultivated fields and that is something I still have to get to grips with ...

I've also dared to try a map of central Italy (and Sicily as a separate map) - the old Italy map was great, but I think it could use an update. But this is just early stages yet.

Hmmm ... a good question actually. When making most maps and when I need the unlocked map-making version of Il-2 to place airfields, change textures, add names and texts or place objects or whatever, I usually use version 4.08. It loads much faster and is a bit more responsive.

BUT - my 4.08 version does have mods installed such as dlv_Egypt objects, also lal_rone Fortifications mod and possibly a few other things.

It doesn't carry Slovakia objects though, which is a shortcoming in some respects.

Then on the other hand, when necessary I also have a 4.09 map-making version which I use sparingly and only when absolutely necessary for certain maps that for whatever unfathomable reason won't load in 4.08.

So let's say that in principle they are 4.08 maps, but with additional objects added.

Ag, your good maps add landscapes that were lacking in Il2,
and are just perfect for missions with two new planes, Sea Hurricane and Cant1007 :!:

Thank you and bravo Big Grin

You have no idea how much fun it is to be able to make maps on your own, to be able to choose the oddest or forgotten areas in the world, to find obscure but beautiful landscapes and terrain. Or to choose an area that holds your particular interest.

The Spanish Civil War was the starting point, Spain being a wondrously beautiful, austere and desolately intoxicating country with the most varied landscapes imaginable - that added to the passion of the struggle of ideologies that was fought there to the detriment of so many, but with the valor of true conviction on both sides. And with the romanticism of flying in the most outlandish but still stylish aircraft of the times.

I never had any idea I'd be able to make maps on my own for these places. And it's just as fulfilling to find that other members enjoy them as well ... and it's a modest way to repay for all the great mods that have been posted here.

Here are a few - but there isn't anything in the way of objects yet - so these are only landscapes - and they might change texture as the map progresses along ... but anyway - here you go. Lots of islands in the sun.
