If that is the maximum res your display can handle, then it's possible that is the limit. However, if you have a wide screen display that has a resolution of 1680x1050, you should go in your conf.ini file. But first backup your ini file, by making a copy in the same location. Now you can change 3 lines to look like this:

conf.ini Wrote:[window]
width=1680
height=1050

ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0
And if you've never been in your conf.ini and have a system that can handle it, also (near the bottom) change the following:

conf.ini Wrote:Sky=2
Forest=3
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=3
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=17
Water=4
Effects=2
ForceShaders3x=0

Your choice for Water= is 2, 3 or 4. There's some difference between 2, 3 and 4, but if it's too hard on your system, use 2.

What does Landgeom and water do? I tried out a widescreen few days ago and the water looked real bad after changing resolution to 1680 * 1050 is Water=4 a fix for that?

water=4 is for perfect water with perfect settings with Nvidia card.
water=2 is the perfect water setting for ATI cards. :wink:

LandGeom gives you double or triple view distance of the landscape to the horizon. At high altitude, you are no longer flying in a foggy cylinder.

AFAIK Water=4 is the highest setting, giving white caps on waves in bad weather. (OpenGL and "Perfect") Here are some shots, so you can compare what water settings look like:

Water=0 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Water=1

Water=2 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Water=3

At me, water=0,1 or 2 is just flat surface.

Got an ATI graphics card? Not (able to) run(ning) in OpenGL and "Perfect Landscape"?

OK, right, you will only get perfect mode with open GL, with either nvidia OR ATI.
the water settings are dependent on what card and settings you use.

on both ATI and nvidia in non perfect mode, there is not much difference in the water settings but for some depth to the water.
But in perfect, nvidia has 4 settings, and there is a marked difference between each, from flat blue to glassy with caps.
ATI on the other hand only utilises water 1 or 2, 2 being the same as nvidia 4.

you will only get the glassy water in perfect settings on either card

BUT, this is all dependent on what video settings you use.
very low and low with water=4 gives just a plain non textured water,
med with water4 gives blue with a slight moving texture
high with the same gives more texture
excellent with water 4 gives maximum texture and perfect gives the glassy water.

the water= settings are only ustalised in perfect mode.
