Why are STD folder contents so fussy?
#1

I seem to always be wrestling with the contents of the STD folder. It seems as if I try to replace or paste over one of the folders objects/air ( that for one reason or another has reverted back to a 1.1 AAA installer virgin state...don't ask ,I don't know why...it happens...)in particular with either a copy of a "saved"working obects/air( plane prop & weapons properties as well)...I get 60% crash. If however I replace the entire STD folder with a saved copy, then everything works. this is of course gratifying unless the replacement STD folder may not be quite up to date & I may lose static objects without knowing it.
So why can't I simply use air, plane, wepons files to replace the old ones? :?:
Hope this makes some kind of sense & there is an easy answer!

... air.ini is linked to installed new slot planes (its files) and buttons file ( AC INSTALLER ) ... if any of those doesn't match = 60% CTD

so check if you have some plane mod folder and not listed in air.ini ... or you have listed plane in air.ini and no actual mod folder for that plane .... and do make sure you have latest AC INSTALLER (3
.8 ATM)

Yes...3.8 in and working & of course STD was saved in another drive...I don't know what caused the STD in my C; game install to revert to its virgin state ,but even with 3.8 installed I could not transfer bits from the saved STD over, then I tried doing all the text (s) of new aircraft into the various STD files( I'm getting quite good at this, but still had a 60% CTD .Then i reinstlled 3.8 and put saved STD folder in place of the virgin one & then everything worked ...again.
