See, that's what i don't like about those ultra-modern jets...they can bring an enemy bird down from a hundred kilometers, but when they have one right in front of them, they got nothing to shoot...i doubt that using rockets on such a small distance would be a good idea...it wouldn't hit anyways...

This pic isn't supposed to be realistic in any kind btw but yeah I get ur point that rockets wouldn't work but it looks better with the rockets coming out of the bays
, also in that situation the me262 would be vaporised by the vulcan canon, and in a dogfight well hard to tell, depends more on the tactics that both pilots employ.

lol dont worry, i wasn't hitting on your comment, just letting people know a bit of info.
Oh and by the way the jets dropped the idea of having guns i believe with the F4 Phantom. Soon after they realised that they needed guns and the started fitting F4s with guns and found them to be effective in dogfighting when missiles were useless. Ever since all military planes have been fitted with guns like the vulcan etc...
