Files with certain extensions blocked from attachments
#1

Hi all:

For the last little while, when I've been trying to send my buddy e-mails with attachment(s), files with certain extensions will be removed or blocked.

We're both using Outlook Express, WinXP, and we both have avast! antivirus. I'm on Sympatico and he's on Cogeco. I'm almost 100% sure the files aren't being blocked at my end.

Can someone help me find where the file extensions would be that are being blocked.

Great days all.

You could bypass it by zipping the files, or maybe renaming the extension and telling the one receiving it to rename it back?

My friend likes to send me .jpg's that are really .exe files...

Just rename the extention to something other than .exe and you should be fine - I tend to just add something like a 1 to the extention eg. whatever.exe1 and let the recipient know to rename it once they have downloaded it.
