Hi,
I have an idea for a small mod I hope somebody would be able to make:
Normal exhaust smoke. We already have the engine flame and the wonderful mods for damagesmoke but an AC usually smokes a bit all the time when the engine is running.
Would increase immersion IMHO.
Anybody?

One useful thing could be the mixture smoke, with a bit changed color to dark grey or even black. It would be nice see the dark smoke pouring from exhausts when engines are on WEP or other boost. This has been stated on many historical accounts by pilots. Possibilities are so many but implementation can be bit of a challenge.
You could not see exhaust smoke on a running aircraft, The wind from the prop would dissipate it to quickly, But with boost, Wep, MW-50, full emergency power you could see a black smoke trail similar to the game when you fly russian planes too high and havent reduced the mixture. Im sure for the modders it would be easy enough to implement if they had the wish.

Well, the mixture smoke seems to be tied to altitude pretty much as it appears at roughly 3, 5 and 7km and/or above. Maybe it could be tied to the throttle position info in game engine so when you firewall the throttle then it triggers this smoke and when below 100% no smoking. I have no idea of the internal works of IL2 engine so this is only a wild guess.
See the Me-262 has its exhaust flames tied to throttle steppings. So I imagine there could be a viable way of implementing.
Actually it features two types of exhaust flames concerning you should be pushing your thrust too fast. (Could be another hook to implement new "smokey" hints for abrupt throttle changing).

Though there has been much discussion on this type of mod already. I doubt it would be really end up in game unless some one does it off their own back of course. It would add realism. But people would get it mistaken for engine damage in the game. Probably why its not even been made.
