Here is some video I captured a couple of weekends ago at a local museum. The Flying Heritage Collection flew their Messerschmitt Bf-109E-3 Emil and Fieseler Fi 156 C-2 Storch.

Hey Fight! Great stuff. I'm going to the next fly day featuring the P-40 and the Rata. After that on the 27th they will be flying the Hurricane and the Mustang. Can't miss my favorite plane flying now can I?

Hey, Fight. "Hell-ER Bust" and "Impatient Virgin" will be flying all 4 days at Arlington in July. We'll hook up in Arlington, hopefully. If that's alright with you.

I was wondering what happened to you Fight, I knew you'd have some great shots of this bird. The day you got these the 109 flew over my house and did one complete orbit, was AWESOME!!! Thanks for posting the vids, great work! Wink

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed these two videos. I'm going to be doing this from now on. My girlfriend videotaped most of it while I took stills.

I'll be there again this Saturday... basically every single fly-day except one of the days in August.

I can't wait to see these fly some more in Arlington. Unfortunately I have to take some stupid test on July 11th, but may be able to make it back before the end of the airshow.

Also, I'll be heading up to Abbotsford for their airshow. Rumor has it that John will be taking is BEARCAT and TIGERCAT up there for the warbird flight demonstrations! Wohoo!

Oh, and Ruger... would you happen to know of any good spots to stake out for these fly days, other than out in front of the museum? It'd be really great to be able to have some head-on shots or have it pass directly overhead. I may have to begin venturing out on the next "repeat" days.

Wow, Just wow, watching these in high def!

I have one question though, why noone wants to do real maneuvers such as loops, rolls, or even spins??

That's a good question! There are a couple of reasons

1. Since these are VERY rare museum pieces (some of them are the only ones of their kind still flying in the WORLD) they don't really push these aircraft a lot. It's more about simply seeing them in the air and taxiing around than putting on an airshow.

2. This is the main reason: That is still an active airport! They fly these planes at Paine Field, which is home to Boeing's final assembly plant for the 747, 777, and 787 airliners. As you can hear in the background of the Storch video, this museum is also located to an extremely busy maintenance facility for 737 and 757's. The jet heard in the background of that video was a UPS 757 running up.

Because Paine Field is still active, there is not only a limitation on non-aerobatic maneuvers, but also a speed limit of 200 kts.

is there main reason for putting speed limits? is this world becoming like cars being restricted in speed, meaning soon computers will be restricted in speed? lol

You're welcome!

It's an FAA thing, Paine Field is a towered Class E airspace airport, therefore operations inside this airspace must be done below 200KIAS. The reason for the limit is basically timing and has to do with the fact that airplanes are coming into a traffic pattern here. Seeing and avoiding a 350kt Messerschmitt shooting low approaches may be rather difficult to the one trying to land! Big Grin

The only place that I can think of is maybe over by those storage buildings just North of Payne. The planes usually take off in a North heading and I'm sure they pass right over that place. The only problem at my place is that they're never less than 1500 feet over head, the 109 was at about 2000 when it went over. Only once did I see the P-47 and Spitfire at about 1000 feet and that was last year. But let me know if I can help in any way...
