In should be possible, since you can smoothly zoom in and out using the mouse in external view mode, and since it seems to be fairly simple to integrate support for devices which allow you to smoothly shift your point of view (i.e., Track IR). I have no idea how difficult the coding would be, however.

Since when??? :? I think you are confusing zoom (change of "field of view") with "getting closer" (change of position).

And smooth zoom does not recreate the effect you are trying to achieve, if that is still the Wii video of Johnny Chung Lee.

I think the answer to your question as the game stands now is no.

I did see soemthing (over at Ubizoo I think) where you could attatch the zoom to an axis if you had a Saitek stick using bands in their programming software but I think thats as close as it got.

If the "3d Wii" effect requires smooth control of field of view (as opposed to zooming and panning) then you're right. But, the fact that IL2 allows you to "step" field of view might imply that it is possible to create a smoothly scrolling version of field of view. Since I'm not a modder or a coder, I have no idea how difficult such a thing would be, though. But, man, if it worked . . . incredible!

Not exactly smooth, If you program button to repeat , it helps speed it up

I have smooth zoom with X52 programing software. You assign a key for FOV+ and one for FOV- and you program a macro to repeat at 0.01 seconds each key.

It quickly jumps from degree to degree and you don't see any steps.

I use it for years. Now I use it in conjunction with San's FOV changer and works good there too.
