I installed IL-2. I went to game and there were no problems. Then i changed my resolution with il2 config (or whatever it's called) to 1600x1200, because there wasn't any bigger one like 1680x1050 which my monitor support. I went into game again and my monitor said "out of range". The only way i could went out of the game was restarting a computer. Also i tried to reinstall the game and it didn't work. Do you have any solutions about this???
my system specs are:
procesor: intel core 2 quad q9400 2.66 ghz
memory: kingston hyperX 2x2 gb ddr2 800 mhz
graphics card: ati radeon sapphire HD 4870 1gb gddr5
My system is more than enough powerful to run this game.
I don't know why IL2 doesn't run after the reinstall (no patch, no UI yet?), but maybe you'd need to re-run IL2setup.exe again and pick a 1280x960 resolution to start with.
After it runs again, do:
Open the conf.ini file (with notepad or wordpad) that's in your IL2 directory.
There's a section called [window]. Change the text to look like the coloured bits below:

ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
As your system should be able to handle it, also change the value behind "LandGeom=" to 3 for a horizon far far away.
Actually i changed resolution several times. I still don't know what to do.
What's your display? Are you able to set 1600x1200 for the desktop? Maybe you need to limit the screen refresh rate of the display to 60, 72 or 75Hz? What's the OS anyway, Vista?
So when you've set the screen res to 1280x960@32Bit, you still can't get the game to run?
might be worth opening il2setup.exe in the main directory, it tends to reset all the resolutions you change manually in the conf.ini - that might hopefully solve the problem?
JAMF- Yes i am able to set desktop to 1600x1200 and i already have refresh rate set to 60 hz. I am having vista ultimate x64. Also i set the game to 1280x960 32bit and i still can't run the game.

if i change resolution to 1600x1200 on desktop it says out of range too! i never noticed that before.

i tried the solution. i changed resoluton to 1680x1050 in the notepad. now the problem is that the file doesn't want to save.
Rightclick on the conf.ini and make sure it's not set to read-only. Or maybe it was in use? (IL2 running or open in another text editor?)
