I need know in what file and where in that file can I change things like engine overheat threshold and power or thrust factor for a particular aircraft? What tools are needed to do this? Or is there a tutorial on making you own planes from scratch.[/i]

Editing existing F/M's is not condoned or authroized by the AAA team.
Though I fly through the valley of death, I will fear no evil.....
For I am the meanest SOB in the valley!
I don't want to edit an existing flight model of an official IL-2 model. I simply want to tweak a downloadable model as it doesn't quite suit my squads needs. Either way it can and will and I am sure has been done. How else is someone supposed to learn how to make planes if you don't know where the relavent data is stored? If model creation information is availible anywhere on this site then you basically already are condoning it. And you can't tell me nor reassure me that all of the models posted on this site are totally original builds and not based off pre existing F/Ms.
Jinxx said it right, no FM modding!
Wow, what an insighful reply that was? Um, are you missing the fact that you are all modding someone elses work hence the existance of this site in the first place? Next time you think about posting you better run it past that screener in you head first before the signal makes it to your fingures. Seriously, how can you stop anyone from doing this? How would you even know if it was done? Are you trying to tell me that you know for a fact that non of the planes availible on this site use any code from another model? No offence but that would be just plain ignorent.
READ THE RULES OF THE FORUM
FM modding discussions are NOT allowed!
The planes released on this site are NOT ripoffs of the original IL-2 sturmovik Flight Models, they are completely new Flight Models made from scratch through extremely labour intensive work.
The secret to modify FM's is kept among a select few because the fewer people know it, the less likely it is that people in the "general public" get a hold of the information required to make the changes to give themselves an unfair advantage.
So you are ignorent is what you are saying. That's fine, you are just inciting me to find out even more now. I will have to run this by my coding team at work. The funny thing is once I know, how can you stop me from posting it on my own site. Not that I would do that but I am just saying your sense of control is only relative. It's only code it is not rocket sience.
Yes I can tell that your sense of control is only relative, beacuse you just went into grounds for ban territory.
I know this, because wether you like it or not, I am a member of the AAA team. I'm not a modder myself but I know quite a few of them, and I've heard a lot about how much time and effort they put into this, hell, I've tested some of the planes before release myself.
Go ahead and figure it out by yourself, it's how most modders here did it, and if you have something good to contribute, join the modders on the AAA teamspeak, they're not hard to talk to, they all speak english.
Be nice now and go read the rules of the forum please.
Hum, I am sorry sir, and please don't take this the wrong way, but you ban my account there is no way for you to stop me from creating another let's be realistic. I could be anyone from anywhere.
Okay,
1.Planes are made in relation to the other existing planes and cant allways be spot on original as not everythin in this game is spot on to real planes.
2.Ignorant people dont read the forum rules.
3.Ignorant people ask questions before thinking that this site is old and that the questions havent been asked before.
4.If how to do it is all over this site then why are you asking.
5.Youre coding team at work wont know jack **** about this games coding.
6.Bye bye and look for a new place to get modded planes because I know where the size 12 is going soon.
Wow, guess you told me buddy! I unlike some, have a life and just ask the question letting others do the work for me, it's easy you should try it. Why am I gonna waste my time going through post after post if I can get someone else to give me the link I need. And, like I said, it's only code even if they wrote the language themselves.
Yes, it is only code and no, I don't care if you figure it out.
You still have to figure out more than the code itself, if it were that simple, this 9 year old game would have been modded ages ago, instead of how recently it's actually been modded.
 ok who's running the book on what the OP post count will end up at... I'll have $10 on 6
